Arroganz/Morsus/Supreme Chaos Records/2020 CD Review

  Germany's  Arroganz  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  continues  the  brutal  blackened  death  metal  style  from  their  previous  releases  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2020  album  "Morsus"  which  will  be  released  in  October  by  Supreme  Chaos  Records.

  Stringed  instruments  and  clean  playing  start  off  the  album  along  with  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  parts  and  clean  singing  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very powerful  sound  to  them  and  when  the  music  speeds  up a   great  amount  of  brutal  sounding  blast  beats  can  be  heard.

  Vocals a re  a  mixture  of  death  metal  growls  and  black  metal  screams  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  Electronic  music  sounds  can  also  be heard  briefly  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  melodies  at  times  as  well  as  spoken  word  parts  and  clean  singing  also  making  a  return  on  one  of  the  later  songs. 

  Pianos  and  synths  can  also  be  heard  briefly  along  with  some  elements  of  doom  metal  also  being  added  into  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs  as  well  as  the  music  also  showing  more  diversity  then  previous  releases,  clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  on  the  closing  track.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,  Death,  Possession,  Anti  Religion,  Chaos  and  Liberation  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  album  from  Arroganz  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  blackened  death  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Morsus" "Dead  Man  Gallery"  "Next  level  Stan"  and  "I  Dealt  With  The  Devil".  8  out  of  10.

Arroganz/Erzketzer/F.D.A Records/2018 EP Review

  Germany's  Arroganz  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  that  continues  the  brutal  blackened  death  metal  style  of  previous  releases  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  ep  "Erzketzer"  which  will  be  released  on  September  28th  by  F.D.A  Records.

  Drum  beats  start  off  the  ep  before  adding  in  some  powerful  sounding  bass  guitars  while  the  heavy  riffs  also  add  in  a  small  amount  of  groove  along  with  the  vocals  being  mostly  death  metal  growls  as  well  as  some  black  metal  screams  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard.

  Melodies  can  also  be  heard  in  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  a  brief  use  of  atmospheric  elements  and  after  awhile  the  music  starts  having  its  brutal  moments  as  well a s  some  clean  playing  being  added  onto  the  closing  track  which  is  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  dark  and  melodic  style.

  Arroganz  creates  another  recording  that  remains  true  to  the  blackened  death  metal  style  of  previous  releases,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  satanism,  death,  possession,  chaos,  liberation  and  anti  religion  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Arroganz  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  blackened  death  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "As  Furious  Wings  Cast  Long  Shadows".  8  out  of  10.

Arroganz/Primitiv/F.D.A Records/2017 CD Review

  Germany's  Arroganz  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  that  continues  the brutal  blackened  death  metal  style  of  previous  releases  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2017  album  "Primitiv"  which  will  be  released  in  September  by  F.D.A  Records.

  A  very  fast  and  brutal  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  death  metal  growls  along  with  a  few  black  metal  screams  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  you  can  hear  elements  of  doom  metal  in  the  slow  riffing.

  A  great  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies  can  be  heard  in  the  riffs  while  some  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  id  paced  and  fast  parts  and  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  briefly and  one  track  also  introduces  clean  playing  and  acoustic  guitars  onto  the  recording  but t he  music  mostly  sticks  to  more  of  a  heavier  style.

  Arroganz  remains  true  to  the  blackened  death  metal  style t hat  was  established  and  previous  releases  while  also  mixing  in  a  decent  amount  of  doom  metal  elements,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,  Death,  Possession,  Chaos,  Liberation  and  Anti  Religion  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Arroganz  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  blackened  death  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Obliviate"  and  "Cortege",  8  out  of  10.

Arroganz/Tod & Teufel/FDA Rekotz/2014 CD Review

  Arroganz  are  a  band  from  Germany  that has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  very  brutal  form  of  blackened  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2014  album  "Tod  &  Teufel"  which  will  be  released  in  November  by  FDA  Rekotz.

  A  very  distorted  and  melodic  sound  starts  off  the  album  and  a  few  seconds  later  spoken  word  parts  are  added  into  the  music  and  after  the  intro  the  music  starts  to  get  a  lot  more  heavy  along  with  some  grim  black  metal  screams  and  deep  death  metal  growls  and  after  awhile  blast  beats  are  added  into  the  music.

  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  with  the  faster  parts  being  very  brutal  and  the  slower  sections  having  some  elements  of  doom  metal  to  them  and  most  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  along  with  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  When  solos  and  leads  are  added  into  the  music  they  add  more  melody  into  the  bands  musical  style  and  they  also  have  some  distortion  pedal  effects  being  utilized  at  times  and  they  are  only  utilized  rarely  with  the  music  focusing  more  on  a  brutal  style  of  blackened  death  metal  and  there  is  never  a  soft  moment  present  anywhere  on  this  recording.

  Arroganz  creates  some  very  brutal  blackened  death  metal  on  this  recording  while  also  having  a  decent  amount  of  melody  and  slow  doom  metal  riffs  which  makes  their  style  have  more  of  an  original  feeling,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism  and  Occultism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  album  from  Arroganz  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  band,  you  should  enjoy  this  recording,  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "One  Death"  "Demon's  Heart"  "All  Light  Is  A  Lie"  and  "Alles".  8  out  of  10.

Arroganz/kaos.kult.kreation/BlackSmith Records/2013 CD Review

  Arroganz  are  a  band  from  Germany  that  plays    blackened  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2013  album  "kaos.kult.kreation"  which  will  be  released  by  Blacksmith  Records.

  Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  some  blast  beats  being  utilized  at  times,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  are  coming  out  of  the  guitars  and  at  times  they  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  blackened  death  metal  riffs  that  utilize  some  thrash  and  doom  metal  influences  as  well  as  some  melody  in  the  riffing,  while  the  lead  guitars  which  are  only  utilized  briefly  are  very  melodic  sounding  guitar  solos  and  leads.

  Vocals  are  all  blackened  death  metal  screams  and  growls,  while  the  lyrics  cover  satanism,  dark  and  occult  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  heavy  and  professional  sound  to  it  where  you  can  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  this  recording.

  In  my  opinion  Arroganz  are  a  very  great  sounding  blackened  death  metal  band  with  thrash  and  doom  influences  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Blood  Ceremony"  "Ghost  Of  The  Wolf"  "Through  Nightmares  Into  Black"  and  "Demand  The  Dark".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
