Dreadnought/The Endless/Profound Lore Records/2022 Full length Review

Denver,  Colorado's  Dreadnought  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  progressive  mixture  of  post  black  and  doom  emtal  with  elements  of  folk,  jazz  and  classical  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2022  album  "The  Endless"  which  will b e  released  on  August  26th  by  Profound  Lore  Records.

Clear  vocals  and  clean  playing  starts  off  the  album  while  keyboards  are  also  a  very  huge  part  of  the  recording.  The  songs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  post  rock  elements  along  with  most  of  the  tracks  also  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  black  metal  screams  are  also  mixed  into  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs.

When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  while  the  percussions  also  give  the  songs  more  of  a  tribal  feeling  when  they  are  mixed  into  the  music.  The  slower  sections  of t he  songs  are  also  heavily  rooted  in  doom  metal  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

Some  tracks  also  show  influences  of  folk,  jazz  and  classical  which  also  takes  the  recording  into a  more  diverse  direction.  Clayton  Cushman  of  the  Flight  of  Slepinar  also  adds  synths  on  some  of  the  tracks  and  the  whole  album  also  sticks  to  a  slower  direction.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  the  everlasting  struggle  between  human  light  and  suffering.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  album  from  Dreadnought  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  progressive  and  post  black  and  doom  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Worlds  break"  and  "The  Paradigm  Mirror".  8  out  of  10.

Dreadnought/A Wake In Sacred Waves/Sailor Records/2017 CD Review

Dreadnought  are  a  band  from  Denver,  Colorado  that  has  had  an  album  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  mixture  of  black  metal,  doom,  psychedelic,  progressive  and  post  rock  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2017  album  "A  Wake  In  Sacred  Waves"  which  will  be  released  in  October  by  Sailor  Records.

Female  vocals  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  keyboards  a  few  seconds  later  that  also  adds  in  touches  of   progressive  rock  and  after  awhile  the  music  goes  into  more  of  a  heavier  direction  while  also  adding  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  post  rock  style  guitar  leads  onto  the  recording.

All  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  the  music  alternating  between  soft  and  heavy  parts  and  the  riffs  also  utilize  a  great  amount  of  melody  as  well  as  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

At  times  the  music  adds  in  elements  of  70's  era  psychedelic  rock  while  saxophones  are  also  added  into some  parts  of  the  songs  along  with  the  guitars  also  bringing  in  a  great  amount  of  clean  playing  and  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs  are  very  heavily influenced  by  doom  metal  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard.

Dreadnought  creates  another  recording t hat  sticks  to  the  black,  doom  metal,  psychedelic,  post  and  progressive  mixture  of  their  previous  release  while  also  getting  more  experimental  this  time  around,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  a  concept  album  based  upon  the  process  of  life  and  death.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Dreadnought  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  black,  doom  metal,  psychedelic,  progressive  and  post  rock,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Vacant  Sea"  and  "A  Drifting  Reign".  8  out  of  10.

Dreadnought/Bridging Realms/Sailor Records/2015 CD Review

Dreadnought  are  a  band  from  Denver,  Colorado that  plays  a  mixture  of  black  metal,  doom,  folk,  progressive  and  post  rock  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2015  album  "Bridging  Relms"  which  will be  released  in August  by  Sailor  Records.

Psychedelic  sounds  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  atmospheric  keyboards  and  folk  instruments  and  the  music  also  brings  in  saxophones  at  times  and  after  awhile  operatic  female  vocals  are  added onto  the  recording  and  when acoustic  guitars  are  added  onto  the  recording  they  give  the  music  more  of  a  progressive  and  post  rock  feeling.

Most  of  the  songs  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  the  heavy  guitars  bring  in  a  heavy  doom metal  feeling  to  the  music  while  the  harsh  vocals  are  in  more  of  a  high  pitched  black  metal  direction  and  the  songs  also  mix  in  the  heavy  and  clean  parts  together  as  well  as  using  both  harsh  and  clean  vocals.

All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  you  can  hear  a  lot  of  60's  and  70's  progressive  rock  influences  in  the  bands musical  style  along  with  a  decent  amount  of  slide  guitar  and  some  songs  bring  in  elements  of  funk,  jazz  and  Latin  music  and the  songs  stick  to  mostly  a  slow  yet  dark  musical  direction  while  the  music does  speed  up briefly  on  the  last  track  and  also  brings  in  a  few  seconds  of  blast  beats.

Dreadnought  plays  a  musical  style  that  has  its  roots  in  black,  doom  and  post  metal  but  also  mix  in progressive,  folk,  psychedelia  and  jazz  to  create  a  very  original  musical  style,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  the  infinite  and  the  unknowable.

In  my  opinion  Dreadnought  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  black,  doom,  post  metal  and  progressive  rock  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Ode  to  Ether"  and  "Tanspiration".  8  out  of  10.
