1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?
Hi! Gabriel here, bass & vocals of Implore, we are a grindcore crust infused death metal band. Whose members live in Kiel, Hamburg and Berlin. We started out in 2013 and played shows in Europe and North America till now...
2.So far you have released 2 ep's and one full length, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recordings?
The very first ep was recorded in 2012 in 10 hours with a friend of mine, which wasn't any sort of serious thing compared to what we did as a full member band, when Daniel (guitars) and I got together to play music we kept that name cause it sounded good to us, but i would say Black Knell (2014) marks the real beginning of the band. Even though all 3 recordings follow the same stylistic line somehow, all 3 recordings had different members and in the end the output is different.
3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?
We could reduce everything to human misery, but getting deeper and more detailed on the topic we could find things such as animal cruelty, anti fascism, anti religion, new world order, consumerism, conformism among others...
4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Implore'?
I came up with the name long before this became a band, it's one word, easy to remember, not very common and in the end it can be seen from different points. Both for good and evil.
5.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?
We were given the chance to play really cool shows and festivals already, if i would have to choose some of them I would go for Monterrey in Mexico last April. The venue was huge, the sound and light engineers did a great job, the venue was packed and the reaction of the audience was unlike any other. Also Spokane (WA) on the same tour was pretty rad, we were coming from really tough days since we arrived in the USA and that basement show was real madness, the kids went crazy and was a really nice way to start to enjoy the tour.
6.Do you have any touring or show plans for the new album?
Yes, I'm constantly looking to book stuff, it's some kind of obsession to me. We are touring right now Germany, CZ and Luxembourg with Age of Woe from Sweden. In October we have a short trip the the UK stopping in Belgium from there we fly to Russia for 10 shows and then we tour mostly western Europe with This Gift is a Curse. We are planning to tour Europe in March again with really good friends of us, in April back to the US, then 8 shows in Germany with Fuck You And Die & Pighead in May. I hope we will hit some big stages next summer too. Would be awesome!
7.The new album was released on Pelagic Records, can you tell us a little bit more about this label?
When I lived in Barcelona with my family my mom always let me bring bands to crash in the living room, one of those bands were THE OCEAN touring Precambrian in 2007. I have always been a big fan of that band since I saw them in Ieper fest 2006. Many years passed and I saw them few more times but Robin forgot my face as I got older and also uglier. Daniel wanted to record our ep with Jan Oberg from Hidden Planet Studios (also guitar & vocals in Earthship) and we clicked very well. Jan showed the ep to Robin and it caught his interest on us. It was unexpected cause Pelagic is known for releasing quality sludge and doom, and we are a grind noisy band... but Robin wanted to expand the horizons of his roster and here we all ended up. So in the end if you bring bands to crash at your place be nice to them, some day they can offer you a record deal.
8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of extreme metal?
Since day 1 we played all kinds of shows for different audiences. We know pretty much the profile of audience that fits better to us, but also having the chance to play among a vast variety of bands and not feeling out of place is a very rich thing too. When the EP came out we were touring Europe with ACXDC and we played 5 shows before that, the 6th show was opening for Nails in a sold out venue. So we grew as band at the same time the ep got heard. We were not expecting anything cause it was all new and the reactions ever since have been really good so far. We are very thankful.
9.Are any of the band members also involved with any other bands or musical projects these days?
Michael (drums) also plays in a killer brutal death band called Blackwater and another grindcore line-up called Territion, both from his hometown Kiel. Daniel and I recorded some tracks last year and there are a bunch of demos for another release under the name of Iconostasis which is atmospheric black metal.
10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
That's a good questions, I can't even see myself finding a place to live next month haha! We will try to evolve and write better stuff and always find a new challenge. We could possible bring a second guitar as full member in the future and that person will bring another handful of ideas that will probably take us into another direction, who knows... We wanna keep the identity of the band and keep doing this as long and much as possible.
11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
We have some diverse taste inside the band, Michael listens only to heavy stuff he is digging the new Hate Eternal, Nile, Slayer, Vallenfyre, etc. Daniel is a lot into Rorcal, Trap Them, Deathrite, Minsk, Rosetta. I'm listening to the new Cattle Decap album, Primitive Man, Pallbearer, The Kill, Usnea, Coffins... I guess all combined takes the shape of the music we play, we don't wanna put any boundaries to our music and close ourselves in one genre that has to be on a specific way. Whatever that sounds good to us and we like to include to our music, we do it.
12.What are some of your non musical interests?
Michael is a mechanic, he likes off road and dirt bikes, that kind of oily stuff. Daniel is really good at cooking vegan food, I guess he puts interest into knowing what he is cooking. I'm a tattoo artist... I like tattoos. That's an overall view on us, we like a lot of other things too.
