1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?
We're an old school thrash metal band with nods to black and death metal. A four piece consisting of a drummer, guitarist, bassist and vocalist. We play songs ostly about death and pain and that kind of stuff.
2.In 2020 you also had released an ep, can you tell us a little bit more about the musical style that you went for on the recording?
We went for a harder, less melodic style of thrash metal. Incorporating Elements from other genres also viewed as extreme such as black and death. Mostly the focus was on the riffs. The riffs had to be heavy yet catchy. So I would say the style is heavy yet straight forward extreme thrash.
3.All of the band members have experience playing different extreme metal styles, what was the decision behind going into more of a blackened thrash metal style with this band and also how would you compare this genre to other musical genres that you have played in the past or present?
The decision was made when we asked ourselves what we wanted to play and the majority said thrash. It is more techincally challenging that black and viking metal, that's for sure, and definitly more aggressive in tone. Now some of us have extensive experience playing everything from folk and jazz to grindcore. Taking that into consideration this is just another musical expression, though a rather fast and aggressive one.
4.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band has explored so far with the music?
Well, death in all it's shapes and sizes are thoroughly explored lyrically. We have songs about killing people, being killed, suicide, war and all of that good stuff. Most of our lyrical output can be summarized as death in whatever form explored.
5.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'IronFister'?
The inspiration comes from the song Iron Fist by Motorhead of course, but it was also proposed in the context of our drummer originating from a small place called Fister.
6.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the ep cover?
Indeed we can. The artwork was made by our guitarist with only the finest materials in an effort to replicate old school extreme metal demo artwork. Some of the members originally thought it was too amateurish, but with some examples showcasing the amateurish nature of old school extreme metal artwork this artwork was soon accepted. It depicts a skeletal figure with his guts running out of his ribcage. This motif was chosen as it seemed like a good match for old school extreme metal. It was also originally in colors, but it was agreed that it looked better in black and white. It seems to have been effective since it has been commented on in a positive manner by most people writing about the EP.
7.Has the band done any live shows or open to the idea?
We have done about four live performances thus far and we are certainly not done doing that.
8.The ep was released on 'Bad Noise Records', can you tell us a little bit more about this label?
Sure thing. The label is founded and operated by our guitarist. It was originally founded in the late 00's and has released underground acts from all over the world in a seriously underground and indie manner. These days the label mostly release projects that involve the founder, and seldom prints any physical anymore (the EP was an exception).
9.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black and thrash metal?
Oh I would say that fans of the genre seem to enjoy our music very well. Only positive reactions that we've seen. We don't have the largest audience yet, but nothing negative has been uttered in our prescence yet at least.
10.What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that some of the band members are a part of?
Well, our drummer and guitarist got a bunch of stuff going on. They are currently working on releasing albums with acts such as Death Crusader, Satan & Kjartan, Nitrist and Nekrofile Barnehagetanter. Satan & Kjartan also has some live performances planned. Our drummer also recently did some vocal work on Noen Hater Oss, a local black metal act. So a lot of stuff going on.
11.When can we expect a full length and also where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
We are working on the full length as we speak, After we finalize the last couple of songs we will start recording immediately. This will happen this year. As for the future I don't see the band doing anything else than thrash, but the newer tracks that will be on the full length are harder, heavier and faster, so musically we're going more extreme, but not deviating from our core sound.
12.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
Some bands that had an influence on our style of music would be old school thrash like old Exodus and Kreator, but also early death metal bands like Autopsy and Death. Every member are listening to different stuff, and usually a lot of different stuff. Right now we are listening to everything to eurodance to Primus to Impaled nazarene.
13.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
Not really. Listen to our music, buy the record when it get's released, eat your vegetables, don't talk to strangers and hail satan.
