Sidus Atrum/Torn Sky/Kvlt und Kaos Productions/2024 Full Length Review

 

  Ukraine's  Sidus  Atrum  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  an  atmospheric  and  blackened  mixture  of  doom  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2024  album  "Torn  Sky"  which  was  released  by  Kvlt  und  Kaos  Productions.

  The  sounds  of  war  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  brutal  direction  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Vocals  are  mostly  black  metal  screams  mixed  in  with  a  few  death  metal  growls  while  melodies  are  also  added  in  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  and  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  elements  of  doom  metal.

  Clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  on  some  of  the  tracks  while  keyboards  also  give  the  songs  more  of  an  atmospheric  feeling.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  along  with  some  of  the  tracks  also  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length,  

  

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  one  of  the  songs  also  introducing  clear  vocals  onto  the  recording  as  well  as  some  whispered  vocals  also  being  utilized  briefly.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  emotions,  experiences  and  thoughts  about  full  scale  invasion  of  Ukraine.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Sidus  Atrum  and  if  you  are  a fan  of  atmospheric  black,  doom  and  death  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "When  The  Earth  Was  Screaming"  and  "Pulse  Of  Life".  8  out  of  10.

Sidus Atrum/Spiral Of Life/Kult und Kaos Productions/2022 CD Review

 

  Sidus  Atrum  are  a  solo  project  from  Ukraine  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  an  atmospheric  and  blackened  form  of  doom  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  her  2022  album  "Spiral  Of  Life"  which  will  be  released  in  march  by  Kult  und  Kaos  Productions.

  Tragic  sounding  keyboards  start  off  the  album  which  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  music  at  times.  Elements  of  doom  metal  can  be  heard  in t he  slower  riffing  of  the  songs  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  high  pitched  sounding  black  metal  screams  and  death  metal  growls  can  also  be  heard  at  times.

  At  times  the  music  also  gets  very  atmospheric  sounding  while  clean  playing  can  be  heard  on  some  of  the  tracks.  Whispered  vocals  can  also  be  heard  briefly  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard.

  Most  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  along  with  one  song  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  water  sounds.  Melodic  chants  can  also  be  heard  briefly  as  well  as  the  songs  also  bringing  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts,  tremolo  picking  can  also be  heard  in  some  of  the  faster  riffing  and  and  as  the  album  progresses  clean  vocals  are  also  introduced  into  the  music.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  the  cycle  of  rebirths  of  the  soul.    

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Sidus  Atrum  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  atmospheric  and  blackened  doom  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Sea  Of  Life"  and  "Rain  Brings  Your  Voice".  8  out  of  10.

  Sidus  Atrum  is  a  solo  project  from  Ukraine  that  plays  a  very  atmospheric  and  blackened  mixture  of  death  and  doom  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  her  2019  album  "Cold  Silence"  which  was  released  by  Lonravn  Records.

  Field  recordings  and  atmospheric  soundscapes  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  keyboards  a  few  seconds  later  which  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  music. Whispered  vocals  can  also  be  heard  briefly  and  most  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  Vocals  bring  in  a  decent  mixture  of  black  metal  screams  and  death  metal  growls  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  good  amount  of  melody.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs  bringing  in  elements  of  doom  metal  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard,  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style,  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  briefly  on  the  closing  track. 

  Sidus  Atrum  plays  a  musical  style  that  goes  back  to  the  90's  era  of  atmospheric  blackened  doom/death  metal.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  and  depressive  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Sidus  Atrum  is  a  very  great  sounding  atmospheric  and  blackened  mixture  of  doom  and  death  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  solo  project.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Into  The  Depth"  and  "Integrity".  8  out  of  10.
