Äxe/Autogeddon/Caligari Records/2026 Demo Review

Äxe  are  a  band  from  the  United  Kingdom  that  plays  a  mixture  of  black  and  speed  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2026  album  "Autogeddon"  which  will  be  released  on  July 17th  by  Caligari  Records.

A  very  dark  yet  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  demo  while  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording.  Elements  of thrash  and  speed  metal  are  also  utilized  on  all  of  the  tracks  along  with  the  vocals  being  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal screams  and melodies  are  also added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing.

Most  of  the  music  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  80's  and 90's  era  mixed  in  with  influences  of  punk  while  also  sounding  very  modern  at  the  same  time.  Back  up  shouts  are  also  used  at  times  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  also  adding  in  more  of  an  old  school  extreme  metal  style,  some  of  the  tracks  also  add  in  a  small  amount  of  growls  as  well  as  some synths  also  being  added  on  the  closing  song

Äxe  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  black,  thrash,   speed  metal  and  punk  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own.  The  production  sounds  very  old  school  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  and  violent  themes.

In  my  opinion  Äxe  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  black,  thrash,  speed  metal  and  punk  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Warriors  Of  The  Death  Raid"  "Dark  Justice"  and  "Rise  From  Your  Tombs".  8  out  of  10.

The Fals Interview

1,Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording and release of the new album?

Hi there, thanks for the interest!Since the recording and release of the new album nothing really happened, to be honest. A little bit of promo work, some interviews, but that was it so far. Some gigs are coming up and the reaction we got to the new album were without exception positiv.

2.Recently you have released a new album, musically how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?

2: The new album has more Heavy Metal elements in general in it and the Black Metal elements are even stronger 80s inspired (Bathory, Tormentor, Slayer, Mercyful Fate) than on the last one.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the new release and also how would you describe your progress as songwriters over the years?

3: I think the aim when you make new music should always be that it is better or at least on par with the stuff you released in the past. I would'nt neccessarily say that the new album is better than the last one, but it is definitely different. The subjects we deal with are mainly dark sorcery, the barren lands of Fals ( see next question) and the things we have the feeling envoke the Black Metal FEELING.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'The Fals'?

4: The word "Fals" is an original creation that initially had no specific meaning. This turned out to be a stroke of luck for us—certainly by the time of our first album—because it allowed us to imbue the word with meaning ourselves. In doing so, we built an entire world and storyline around the term. "Fals" is both a land situated far beyond the Grave of the Moon and a guild of dark mages that took the name for itself, styling itself as "THE FALS." Our debut was a concept album that explored the world of Fals and its inhabitants through a continuous narrative. The lyrics on the second album also revolve around this theme, though they do not form a single, cohesive story.

5.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?

5: A part of the inspiration of the new album and it's artwork come from a painting called "The Magic Circle" by english painter John William Waterhouse 1886. That painting stirred up such a deep feeling within me that I sort of build the title track around the scene. That witch was also the initial inspiration for the cover artwork. Khaos Diktator design captured our vision behind it in a perfect way, so we are really happy with the outcome.

6.Out of all the shows and tours the band has done so far, which one stands out the most?

6: We did no tours yet. The best shows are of course always those where you can get the crowed going. Remeber Necrobutcher: "Come on Leipzig, are you dead??" But all in all we had some inspiring evenings.

7.Do you have any touring or show plans for the new album?

7: There are no tour offers, and I guess there won't ever be, but we try to play every show worth playing, so if someones hits us up and the conditions are right there's little chance that we say No, haha.

8.The new album was released on 'Undercover Records', how would you compare working with this label to other labels that you have worked with in the past?

8: Undercover beliefs in our music, which is the most important part. They do much of the business stuff that no one of us likes, so that's good, to. And they are Metal Die-Hards like us.

9.On a worldwide level, how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black and underground metal?

9: To be honest, the few reactions we got were consistently positive. Every reviewer kind of agrees that the album needs more than one or two spins to take effect. But once people catch on and understand our intentions, they really get a kick out of it.

10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

10: Good question. We really don't know yet. But in fact we will decrease the Black Metal elements that hint beyond the 80s even further. Maybe a little bit like the latest Malokarpatan album, where you have nearly zero BM-riffs but through the whole atmosphere it creates it comes across as a Black or Black Heavy Metal album nonetheless.

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles the band members are currently listening to nowadays?

11: I listen mostly to what you could describe as REAL Metal. My fave bands are Manowar, Darkthrone and Bathory. Currently I listen a lot to 90s Mercyful Fate, Black Sabbath stuff like Born Again and Dehumanizar, the new Darkthrone Pre-Historic Metal and the Blessed Death - Kill Or Be Killed album, which is so fucking great.

12.Does Occultism play any role in your music?

12: Yes, kind of. The conceptual narrative of the debut album *Beyond The Grave Of The Moon*—released in 2023 via the now-defunct label TeufelsZeug Records—depicts an intoxicating journey through hostile landscapes in an alien realm and era. The sole ruler of the ancient mages' guild known as "The Fals" craves power and omniscience. His morbid obsession drives him to ally with dark forces—forces that, in turn, demand sacrifices. The concept centers on exploring the question of who or what "The Fals" actually are. It is a tale of steel, mist, and blood.

Bel’ranaar is an ancient, now-destroyed city; Tar’naht is a mountain at whose foot the witch featured on the cover of the current album, *Where Cold Steel Gleams*, holds her domain; and Xar’Ghol was a ruler of Bel’ranaar who perished during the city's destruction—yet a beast of his own creation still lurks in the city's deepest catacombs (the opening track of the B-side).

It is somewhat akin to taking the lyrics from the debut Candlemass album and Celtic Frost’s *To Mega Therion* and placing them within the world of Darkthrone’s *Kathaaria*.

13.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

13. Thanks for the interview, good questions! Check out our latest album if you are a fan of Darkthrone, Bathory and 80s and very early 90s (Black) Metal in general.

Nuctemeron Interview

1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording of the new album?

Infernal Hails, Lunatic Aggressor here. I'll be doing the interview with you and will try to answer all your questions. So, since we finished recording in August at our friend Avenger's (Nocturnal) Somewhere in Nowhere studio, a few months have passed. We've used this time to rehearse a new setlist with many of the songs that will be on the album and to prepare for upcoming gigs. We've also been busy getting the artwork approved, the layout, taking promo photos, and all those other things a band has to do for a new Album. We've poured a lot of time and heart into these to prepare the new album, "Demonic Sceptre," exactly the way we want it.

2.You have a new album coming out in March, musically how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?

So, I think we musically focused more on our roots, which are firmly planted in the heavy, black, and speed metal of the 80s. And I think you can hear that in the songs, since we wrote a lot more Speed and Heavy Metal riffs that really suit them. With the older songs, we focused more on pure speed, whereas with the new songs, we eased off the gas pedal a bit and wrote them in favor of more heaviness and aggression. I think we took our time so that in the end, all four of us were one hundred percent satisfied with every song.

3.A lot of your lyrics cover Satanic and Blasphemous themes, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in the dark arts?

Since I'm the one who "commits" all the lyrics here, I can give you the appropriate answer. Our lyrics are always a huge part of my inner demons and, admittedly, sometimes somewhat morbid fantasies. Among other things, I have a great interest in black magic, sexual rituals, witchcraft, and things like that. I've read many books on the subject and am also a huge horror movie fan, especially of films from the 70s and 80s. I also see the whole Satanism thing we've adopted more as our counter-movement to all the religions that unfortunately dominate our world and which I despise with all my heart.

4.What are some of the other lyrical topics and subjects the band has explored so far with the music?

Of course, our lyrics also revolve a lot around heavy metal, the way we understand and live it, the way we embody and stylize it with all its clichés. But for the new album, I've also incorporated my interest in serial killers and similar topics into the lyrics. It's also about war, destruction, nuclear madness, and everything else humanity is capable of.

5.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Nuctemeron'?

First of all, the name Nuctemeron means the unity of day and night, a complete daily cycle often imbued with symbolic, spiritual significance. Some occult or "witchcraft" movements interpret these forces as access to ancient hidden, dark energies. This, combined with the song title "Nuctemeron" from the Sodom album "Obsessed by Cruelty," which we absolutely adore, was the deciding factor for us in choosing this name as our band name.

6.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?

The album cover was designed by Sebastian Frigerio, whom we discovered through the cover of Phantom's EP "Transylvanian Nightmare" and whose style immediately captivated us. He painted the entire cover in oils, which was something we particularly valued. He perfectly captured our vision and ideas for the cover, and we are completely satisfied with his work and all our communication with him.

7.Out of all the shows and tours the band has done so far, which one stands out the most?

We don't really tour. We usually play a maximum of five or six concerts a year because that's enough for us and we don't want to play that often. This way, we can offer our fans a special Nuctemeron concert experience with our stage show. Our highlights definitely included our performance at "Thrash Nightmare" in the Czech Republic in 2022 and our guest appearance at "Odyssey to Blasphemy" in 2024. But actually, every gig we've played so far has been special for us in its own way and we've had a blast.

8.Do you have any touring or show plans once the new album is released?

Of course, with the new setlist and this awesome album behind us, we want to play some awesome shows and festivals both at home and abroad. We're itching to unleash a hefty dose of Black Witching Blitz Metal of Satan on the audience and deliver an energetic Nuctemeron Metal show.

9.The new album is going to be released on 'I Hate Records', how would you compare working with this label to other labels you have been a part of in the past?

We are absolutely satisfied with Peter's work at I Hate Records. He's just like us, a total metal fanatic and Die Hard Metal Maniac, which is why we clicked immediately. Peter has been a fixture in the metal scene for a long time and has already released many great albums. Comparing him to other labels is always difficult, as every label we've worked with so far has given their best, and in the end, it's always resulted in great Nuctemeron releases.

10.On the new album you also done a 'Venom' cover, what was the decision behind doing your own version of one of their songs?

Oh hell yeah! Venom were and always will be a huge influence on us and many others. After already paying tribute to Bathory with our cover version of "Reaper" on the split EP "Fuck Off (In the Name of Satan)", we thought it fitting to cover Venom's "Angeldust" for the pre-released 7" vinyl single "Rape from the Grave" and as a bonus track for the CD version of "Demonic Sceptre", and worshipping the Black Metal trio from Newcastle.

11.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black and speed metal?

Over the years, we've consistently received positive feedback on our music from all over the world, which has always made us very happy. Even though, as is often said, you mainly make music for yourself, it's a special reward. I think the new album will again generate a lot of positive reactions and also appeal to people who might not have connected with us before.

12.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

That's a good and valid question, and I have to say that we haven't fundamentally changed our basic musical style compared to the "Knights of Hell" EP and this album. We've simply refined it and become a bit more multifaceted, and our black heavy speed metal influences are more pronounced on the album. We're completely satisfied with it and will remain true to this musical formula in the future. Fans can continue to expect uncompromising Black Heavy Speed Metal from us and won't be disappointed.

13.What are some of the bands or musical styles the band members are currently listening to nowadays?

The four of us have very broad musical tastes and listen to pretty much everything that came out in the 80s in terms of Heavy, Speed, Thrash, and Black Metal. The classics, of course, from Iron Maiden, DIO, and Judas Priest to Manowar, Running Wild, Venom, Hellhammer, Bathory, Destruction, Sodom, and early Slayer or Metallica—it's just too much to list. But we also listen to 70s an 80s Hard Rock, AOR, Punk, and 90s Second-Wave Black Metal. And of course, we listen to a lot of current underground Metal releases from all over the world. Naturally, I don't need to mention that we're absolute vinyl fanatics and collect and adore everything else related to Metal.

14.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

First of all, thank you very much for the interview and Hail and Kill to the readers of the BlackenedDeathMetalZine.

Túmulo Interview

1. Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?

We’re busy writing and rehearsing new songs. We want to go back to recording as soon as possible and so far we have three new songs ready and some ideas in the back of our heads. Also, vinyl and tape versions of the new album will be released later this year.

2. Recently you have released your first full length, musically how does it differ form your previous split and demo?

Not that much, we re-recorded most of the songs from the demo and added some. The approach stays the same. The recording was more professional. The demo recordings were very simple and raw with very few live takes. For the full length, we also recorded all the instruments live without a click track or metronome and added vocals and solos later.

3. All of the band members play in other bands, what is it that you bring into the music of 'Túmolo', that you have not been able to do with your other groups?

Our other bands and projects are very different from Túmulo. Miasma, who had the idea of forming Túmulo also has a solo project called Apokathilosis which is obviously influenced by Greek black metal (Rotting Christ, Thou Art Lord, Varathron, Zemial). Forhammer is also playing in a heavy metal band called Thunderdeath and Death Vomit is currently in no other bands, since Funeralopolis are on a hiatus and even though Metal Archives says something different, he is not active in Thunderdeath anymore, where he used to play together with Forhammer.

So, we think it’s fair to say that Túmulo is very different from the other bands and projects and for sure our main focus. It was formed out of passion for the early wave of Brazilian black and death metal - something, that isn’t very present in our other bands and projects.

4. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the newer music?

Anti-religious imagery, apocalypse, decay, and provocation, very much rooted in the old Brazilian thrash/black metal tradition. Underneath that, though, there’s a personal core of existential dread, religion becomes less a target in itself and more a symbol of false certainty, and the darkness isn’t just theatrical, but personal and real.

5. I know that the band name means 'Tomb' in Portuguese, how does this name fit in with the musical style that you play?

The Name is very inspired by the mighty Sarcófago. The connection between Black Metal and a Tomb is really self explanatory I guess.

6. Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?

It was an idea Miasma had in his head for a long time and AntiiGraphic brought it to life perfectly and even added some twists. I think the cover speaks for itself and reflects our opinion on religion.

7. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?

That’s a hard one. I really liked our gig at the United Forces fest in Oer Erkenschwick the most. We were able to play for a small, but dedicated crowd of raging maniacs that fully understood what we’re about. The energy coming from the audience was crazy. What we want to bring on stage is pure, unfiltered aggression and hatred. No bullshit, no stupid jokes and games, just metal, spikes, bullets and blasphemy.

8. Do you have any touring or show plans for 2026?

Not yet, but we’re open for basically anything that works for us. If you want to book us, contact tumulo-ch@proton.me

9. Recently you were a part of a split with 'Gomoraa', what are your thoughts on the other band that had participated on the recording?

They approached us to do that release an we’re proud to share a release with our like minded brothers!

10. On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of underground metal?

Reactions so far have been very good! We didn’t really expect anything, since we’re doing this for ourselves. It’s a big honour for us to work with such dedicated labels and we had great feedback from some maniacs from all over the world. If some people don’t like it, that’s also great, since “Evangelho do Canhoto” wasn’t created to please everyone.

11. What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that some of the other band members are a part of?

Funeralopolis are on a hiatus since some time, who knows if they’re coming back... Thunderdeath are currently recording and Apokathilosis will release new stuff when the time is right.

12. Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

Let’s see what the future brings, but we don’t plan to change our direction.

13. What are some of the bands or musical styles the band members are currently listening to nowadays?

While not all of us have an identical taste in music, it’s the obvious stuff we agree on: Sarcófago, early Sepultura, Mystifier, Samael, Beherit, Hellhammer/Celtic Frost, Slaughter, Messiah, Morbid Angel, early Rotting Christ, Sodom, Lou Cyfer, Chakal, Holocausto, Death Strike, Dorsal Atlantica, Decayed, Vulcano, MX, Slayer, Mercyful Fate, Master’s Hammer, Root, Bathory, Napalm Death, Venom, Mayhem, Impaled Nazarene, Masacre, Goatlord, Blasphemy, Razor, late 80s/early 90s death metal, grindcore and punk and so on…

14. Does Occultism play any role in your music?

Occultism isn’t a belief system for us, it’s a language. It’s less about rituals or mysticism and more about confronting what’s uncomfortable: death, chaos, loss of meaning, and the limits of rational explanations.

15. Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Thank you for your support, for death threats and other inquiries please contact tumulo-ch@proton.me.
