Blackevil are a band from Germany that has had music reviewed before in this zine and plays a mixture of black and thrash metal and this is a review of their 2024 album "Praise The Communion Fire For The Unhallowed Sacrament" which will be released in October by Dying Victims Productions.
A very 80's orientated thrash and speed metal style starts off the album while the riffing also mixes in elements of traditional metal. All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them while the vocals are mostly black metal screams and death metal growls can also be heard at times.
When the music speeds up a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can also be heard while the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style. Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with a couple of tracks being long and epic in length.
One song also introduces clean plating into the album along with some of the vocals also adding in a semi melodic tone at times, Gregorian chants and choirs can also be heard briefly, folk instruments are also added on the closing track. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Occultism, Darkness and Medieval themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding from Blackevil and if you are a fan of black and thrash metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Timeless Throne'" "Beneath This Pentagram" and "Towards The Carpathian Battle". 8 out of 10.
