This is a review of a split album between Switzerland's Bunkur and Mordor which was released in 2017 by Nuclear War Now Productions! and we will start off the review with Morder a band that plays a mixture of drone and doom metal and their cover of Carnivore's "The Subhuman".
Their side of the split starts out with drones, drum beats and a powerful sound bass guitar while the track is over 21 minutes in length along with the tortured screams also adding in a touch of black metal as well as some spoken word parts being used in the background and the slow riffing is heavily rooted in doom metal, the production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics cover hateful themes.
In my opinion Bunkur are a very great sounding mixture of drone and doom metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band.
Next up is Mordor a band that plays a mixture of black, funeral doom metal, industrial and ambient and there version of Venom's "In League With Satan" which they changer to "In League With Wotan".
Atmospheric drones start off their side of the split along with some demonic chanting and growls in the background while the music also mixes in elements of dark ambient as well as adding in a brief use of acoustic guitars and their track is 16 minutes in length, melodic viking vocals are also used at times.
The song sounds nothing like the original and after awhile the music gets heavier along with some death metal growls and they also mix in epic synths into the heavier sections of the song as well as some grim black metal vocals, and the guitar leads are also done in a very melodic fashion, the production sounds very dark while the lyrics cover Germanic Paganism themes.
In my opinion Mordor are a very great sounding experimental mixture of black, funeral doom metal, industrial and ambient and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band.
In conclusion I feel this is a very great sounding split and if you are a fan of black, funeral doom metal, drone, experimental, ambient and industrial, you should check out this album. 8 out of 10.
