Almanon are a band from Brazil that plays a mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of their self released 2025 album "Primitive Infernal".
Stringed instruments start off the album while the sounds of ravens can also be heard briefly before going into more of a heavier and melodic direction. When the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard along with the vocals also adding in a mixture of black emtal screams and death metal growls.
Throughout the album you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the music is very heavily rooted in the 90's era. All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them along with a lot of the music sounding like it could of easily been recorded and released 30 years ago.
Almanin plays a musical style that goes back to the early 90's era of black and death metal and mixes them together to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very old school while the lyrics are based upon the writings of Edgar Allan Poe.
In my opinion Almanon are a very great sounding mixture of black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Black Birds" "Death Red" and "Despair". 8 out of 10.
