Dispatched/Blackshadows/1994 Cassette Review

Dispatched where a band from Sweden that played a very blackened form of death/doom metal with a melodic edge and this is a review of their self released 1994 cassette "Blackshadows".

Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some blast beats being thrown in at times, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars and at times they have a very powerful sound to them, as for the keyboards they are utilized they add a dark atmosphere to the music.

Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast riffs that combine death metal with black and doom metal with a good amount of melody being thrown into the music as well as a brief use of soft and clean playing, while the lead guitars are very melodic sounding guitar solos and leads, as for the acoustic guitars when they are utilized they use finger picking to enhance the darkness that is coming out of the music.

Vocals are mostly deep blackened death metal growls with some spoken word parts being used at times, while the lyrics cover dark themes, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it while still being produced will enough to the point where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording.

In my opinion Dispatched where a very great sounding blackened death/doom metal band with a melodic edge and if you are a fan of this style, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Tranquility" "Harmageddon" "Act Of Ressurrection" and "Blackshadows". RECOMMENDED BUY.

Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast death/grind riffs that utilize a great amount of black metal and some industrial influences with a brief use of clean playing, while the lead guitars are very chaotic sounding black/death metal guitar solos that utilize some melodies.

MALE mISANDRIA Interview

1. Can you tell us a little bit about the band for those that have never heard of you before?

We're Male mISANDRIA, a band from Naone born in 2007, when i was 17, as a one man band runned by me, later in the 2008 joined Magris as drummer and Puja as bassplayer. We recorded Volizione http://malemisandria.bandcamp.com/album/volizione the same year, then E.DIN http://malemisandria.bandcamp.com/album/e-din and a split with Malveillance http://malemisandria.bandcamp.com/album/split-w-malveillance

2. How would you describe your musical sound?

We never described it and we never will. I know that this answer is trendy (I read an interview of Rotten sound saying that they have a lot of influences, they don't care about the labels.. wow, they're 100% swedish grindcore, their heterogeneous influences works well) but that's the truth :)

3. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?
We talk about our life in general, with analogies with alchemy, occultism etc.. We changed a lot from Volizione, that was just based on the will to overcome nihilism. Then we begun to feel the need to talk about what we see and what we feel in life with a spiritual key.

4. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the bands name?
The name is half english (Male) and half italian (mISANDRIA - misandry). In the beginning we used that cause was like to say: “we can't stand in any people/musical labels, cause that's stupid and limitated..” Was a contradiction that we lived in any situation, from a metal-show to a disco-dance club. Now we like it cause is the uninion of opposites that gives birth to the perfection.

5. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe your stage performance?

We played sitted, a friend with a bag in the head reading a book in the stage. People thought we were idiots

6. Do you have any touring plans for the future?

Here in Italy there are few possibilities to play live and, always, without refounds. We're 3 students and we can't move a lot without a little money's feedback. So no tours plans. If you have suggestion to do that we would glad to know hehe

7. Currently you are signed to Suffering Jesus productions, how did you get in contact with this label and how would you describe the support that they have given you so far?

We sent about 200 emails to labels and Suffering was the only one replied me hahah. Maryann (the owner) is a great person and we are infinitely grateful for the support given. Now, unfortunely, the label close up so we are searching for another one to release our future materials.

8.Are there any other projects besides this band or is this a full time line up?

A full time line up. We had different projects before (Athwart, Esequie..) but we left cause Male mISANDRIA was our new way.

9.What direction do you see the band heading into on future releases?

We are composing a lot of songs for a split with Lamantide (http://lamantide.bandcamp.com/) for Grindpromotion.. then we will dedicate all our energy to record the second full length, that must be better of the divine commedy

10. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

I think: Destroyer 666, Maldoror, Necromass, Fourth Monarchy, Obtained Enslevment, Satyricon, Arkcanum, Assuck, Cripple Bastards, hardcore bands like Nerorgasmo, Negazione, Confusione, Indigesti, Crunch, Charles Bronson... then HitlerSS and Tampax.. but also a lot more. The bands that I am listening to are: Malign, Entrails, Flame, Vladimirs, Grimes, M.I.A, Fides Inversa.. I suggest Dominhate, Sedition, Lamantide, Cioran and Rejekts.. bands that deserve to replace a lot of elderly still palying.

11.How would you describe your views on occultism and alchemy?
I lought a lot when I see bands using alchemical symobols to gain a “intellectual-image” when they're lyrics talks about nihilism, mailce, killing and being sad :( :(. This people are the most dangerous ones cause exchange the real with the false. Maybe they read a book of “Alchemy Istructions” and they think to being illuminated. You can find real alchemy in the will to being, in the essence of the daily tests you have to pass to find what you are. What you are for REAL, not what you would like to be or what kind of mask you create for yourself. The real man is God, rather, bigger than God.

12.Outside of music what are some of your interests?

First of all we are students so we dedicate a lot of time on that. We read, watch films stay with our girls.. doing what a normal person of our age does.. except party like animals at saturday nights.. For me is really boring.. going to see concerts too.. when I go there I see 2 songs and I want to gome home, bored as fuck. I played Muay Thai for a while.. As soon as we release the next album I will retourn on that way trining to win some.

13. Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?

Have a nice life, thank you for reading
