Barbaric Howler/Cosmic Conqueror/Summoners Of Storm/Dawnbreed Records/Evil Eye Productions/2021 Split EP Review

 

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  ep  between  Israel's  Barbaric  Howler  and  Cosmic  Conqueror  called  "Summoners  Of  Storm"  which  will  be  released  in  December  as  a  joint  effort  between  Dawnbreed  Records  and  Evil  Eye  Productions  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Barbaric  Howler  a  band  that  plays  a  blackened  form  of  death  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  fast  and  brutal  sound  which  also  adds  in  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Vocals  are  mostly  death  metal  growls  while  elements  of  black  metal  are  also  utilized  quite  a  bit  throughout  their  side  of  the  split  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them, throughout  their  side  of  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  towards  the  end  a  brief  use  of  synths  can  also  be  heard.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  heavy  and  the  lyrics  cover  Armageddon  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Barbaric  Howler  are  a  very  great  sounding  blackened  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Into  The  Fire  That  Burns".

  Next  up  is  Cosmic  Conqueror  a  band  that  plays  a  blackened  form  of  death  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  black  metal  style  tremolo  picking  before  adding  in  some  death  metal  growls.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  along  with  some  synths  also  being  utilized  briefly,  the  tracks  also  add  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  heavy  and  the  lyrics  cover  darkness  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Cosmic  Conqueror  are  a  very  great  sounding  blackened  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Return  The  Pyramidion".

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  blackened  death  emtal.  8  out  of  10..

Tausendstern/Hamartia/2021 Full Length Review

 

  Tausendstern  are  a  duo  from  Germany  that  plays  a  blackened  form  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2021  album  "Hamartia".

  A  very  dark  sounding  intro  starts  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  heavier  musical  direction  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Vocals  are  a  mixture  of  death  metal  growls  and  black  metal  screams  and  most  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  Nature  sounds  and  synths  can  also  be  heard  briefly  along  with  some  elements  of  doom  metal  also  being  added  into  the  slower  sections  of  the  tracks  as  well  as  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  briefly  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  dark  yet  melodic  style  as  well  as  the  music  also  having  its  atmospheric  moments  and  a  brief  use  of  clear  vocals  and  clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  on  the  closing  track.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  German  and  are  inspired  by  Mel  Gibson's  "Passion  Of  The  Christ".

  In  my  opinion  Taudendstern  are  a  very  great  sounding  atmospheric  and  blackened  doom/death  metal  duo  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Hamartia"  and  "Kreuzgang".  8  out  of  10.

  Psionic  Madness  are  a  band  with  embers  from  California  and  South  Carolina  that  plays  a  cavernous  mixture  of  black,  death  metal  and  grindcore  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2021  album  "Mortality  Salience"  which  was  released  by  Vargheist  Records.

  A  very  dark  yet  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  brutal  sounding  blast  beats  and  grindcore  elements  can  also  be  heard  and  the  vocals  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  cavernous  death  metal  growls.

  Dark  sounding  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  Black  metal  screams  can  also  be  heard  at  times  along  with  the  guitar  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  evil  yet  melodic  style  when  they  are  utilized  as  well  as  some  tremolo  picking  also  being  added  into  some  of  the  faster  riffing.  at  times  the  vocals  also  get  very  guttural  sounding  and  the  whole  album  also  sticks  to  a  very  heavy  and  brutal  musical  direction.

  Psionic  Madness  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  black,  death  metal  and  grindcore  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  paranormal  and  insanity  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Psionic  Madness  are  a  very  great  sounding  cavernous  mixture  of  black,  death  metal  and  grindcore  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Fruits  Of  Agony"  "This  Destiny  To  Die"  "Robed  As  Destinies"  and  "Mephitic  Abattoir".  8  out  of  10.

Kanahn/Fall Pray/2021 Full Length Review

 

  Kanahn  are  a  solo  project  from  Spain  that  plays  a  mixture  of  black,  death  metal  and  grindcore  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  self  released  2021  album  "Fall  Pray".

  A  very  dark  yet  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking,  blast  beats  and  grindcore  elements.  Vocals  are  mostly  black  metal  screams  along  with  the  music  also  mixing  in  a  lot  of  death  metal  influences  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  the  music  is  also  heavily  rooted  in  the 90's  but  modern  at  the  same  time.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  some  growls  also  being  utilized  at  times  as  well  as  one  song  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  samples,  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  dark  yet  melodic  style  and  the  whole  album  also  sticks  to  a  very  heavy  and  brutal  musical  direction.

  Tomusz  are  a  solo  project  from  Hungary  that  plays  a  mixture  of  post  black  metal,  crust  and  hardcore  and  this  is  a  review  of  2021  ep  "Culter"  which  was  released  by  NGC  Prod.

  A  very  dark  yet  heavy  post  hardcore  sound  starts  off  the  ep  before  adding  in  some  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.  Elements  of  crust  can  also  be  heard  in  the  mid  tempo  sections  of  the  songs  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Growls  can  also  be  heard  at  times  while  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  some  blast  beats  also  being  utilized  when  the  music  speeds  up.  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  as  well  as  some  tremolo  picking  also  being  added  into  some  of  the  faster  riffing  and  one  songs  also  introduces  clean  playing  on  the  ep,  synths  can  also  be  heard  briefly  towards  the  end.

  Rejekts  are  a  band  from  Italy  that  plays  a  mixture  of  black  metal,  grindcore  and  crust  punk  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2021  album  "Adamo"  which  will  be  released  in  December  by  Slaughterhouse  Records.

  Tibetan  ritualistic  sounds  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  a  few  seconds  later  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  on  the  second  track.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  on the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

 

 Hardcore  style  shouts  can  also  be  heard  in  some  parts  of  the  recording  while  tremolo  picking  is  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  and  grindcore  elements  can  also  be  heard  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  Clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  on  some  of  the  tracks  along  with  the  mid  tempo  sections  of the  songs  also  mixing  in  influences  of  crust  punk  as  well  as  one  of  the  songs  also  introducing  growls  onto  the  album,  at  times  the  recording  also  gets  very  brutal  sounding  and  spoken  word  parts  are  added  on  the  closing  song.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  mythology,  difficult  trials  and  social  awareness  themes.

  Demonologist  are  a  band  from  Ukraine  that  plays  a  blackened  form  of  thrash  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2021  album  "I  Curse,  I  Dance"  which  was  released  by  Kult  und  Kaos  Productions.

  Horror  movie  samples  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  heavier and  melodic  musical  direction  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  first  wave  and  thrash  metal  elements.  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  also  remain  true  to  an  old  school  style  while  some  songs  also  add  in  a  small  amount  of  back  up  shouts.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  as  well  as  some  tremolo  picking  also  being  added  into  some  of  the  faster  riffing  and  the  whole  album  also  sticks  to  a  heavier  direction.

  In  my  opinion  Demonologist  are  a  very  great  sounding  blackened  thrash  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Be  My  Quest"  "High  On  Evil"  "I  Curse,  I  Dance"  and  "Ashes  In  Air".  8  out  of  10.
