Neon Zeon/Astral Bliss/2021 Full Length Review

 

    Neon  Zeon  are  a  band  from  Germany  that  plays  a  progressive  and  blackened  form  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2021  album  "Astral  Bliss".

  A  very  heavy  yet  technical  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  progressive  elements.  Vocals  are  mostly  blackened  screams  while  death  metal  growls  are  also  utilized  at  times  as  well  as  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Spoken  word  samples  can  also  be  heard  on  a  couple  of  tracks  while  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing.  Most  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  along  with  some  songs  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  clean  playing  as  well  as  the  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  when  they  are  utilized.

 Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts along  with a  lot  of  the  music  also  being heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  era  as  well  as  some  songs  also  add  in  some  Asian  style  scales,  synths  can  also  be  heard  briefly.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  violence  and  psyche  themes.  

  In  my  opinion  Neon  Zeon  are  a  very  great  sounding  progressive  blackened  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Frozen"  "Sweaty  Palms"  and  "Shinzo  King".  8  out  of  10.

H/Dominus Draconis/Sounds Of Hell Records/2021 CD Review

 

 H  are  a  band  from  Italy  that  plays  a  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2021  album  "Dominus  Draconis"  which  was  released  by  Sounds  Of  Hell  Records.

   A  very  heavy  yet  melodic  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  angry  sounding  black  metal  screams.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  some  clean  singing  also  being  added  into  certain  sections  of  the  album.

   Elements  of  death  metal  are  also  utilized  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  while  a  couple  of  songs  also  adds  in  a  brief  use  of  clean  playing.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  an  old  school  style  along  with  the  music  also  having  its  atmospheric  moments  as  well  as  one  track  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  parts,  when  the  music  finally  speeds  up  a  decent  amount of  blast  beats  can  be  heard  and  the  album  also  adds  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  H  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  black  and  death  metal  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Italian  and  cover  The  Book  Of  Revelation  and  the  bands  interpretation  of  the  war  between  good  and  evil.  

  In  my  opinion  H  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Mors  Omnia  Solvit"  "Bruciata  dal  Fuoco"  and  "La  Seconda  Morte".  8  out  of  10.

Moluchtas/Telos Terminus/Godz ov War Productions/2022 Compilation Album Review

 

   Moluchtas  are  a  solo  project  from  Belgium  that  plays  a  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a review  of  his  2022  compilation  album  "Telos  Terminus"  which  will b e  released  in  February  by  Godz  ov  War  productions  and  consists  of  his  2021  ep  "Into  Nothingness"  and  "The  Inexorable  Imprecation  Of  Being".

   Heavy  yet  dark  riffing  and  guitar  solos  and  leads  start  off  the  compilation  while  old  school  style  melodies  can  also  be  heard  in  some  of t he  riffs,  Vocals are  a  mixture  of  black  metal  screams  and  death  metal  growls  along  with  the  music  also  being  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  era  and  elements of  doom  metal  can  also b e  heard  in  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs.

  

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  dark,   melodic  and  old  school  style  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats.  The  songs  also  add  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  some  of the  tracks  also  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  Clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  briefly  on  one  of  the  songs  along  with  synths  also  being  added  on  some  of  the  tracks,  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  as  well  as  some  of  the  faster  riffing  also  adding  in  a  good  amount  of  tremolo  picking.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness,  damnation  and  void  themes.

  Lunar  Blood  are  a  band  from  New  Jersey  that  plays  a  mixture  of  black,  death  metal  and  hardcore  punk  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2022  album  "Twilight  Insurgency"  which  will b e  released  in  February  by  Pulverised  Records.

  Spoken  word  samples  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  brutal  musical  direction  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats.  Vocals  are  mostly  death  metal  growls  while  black  metal  screams  can  also  be  heard  at  times  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  tremolo  picking  can  also  be  heard  in  some  of  the  faster  riffing.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  riffs  along  with  the  mid  tempo  sections  adding  in  touches  of  hardcore  and  some  of  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  capture  the  raw  energy  of  crust  punk  as  well  as  one  track  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  keyboards.

  Lunar  Blood  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  black,  death  metal,  hardcore  and  crust  punk  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  war,  human  cruelty,  state  violence,  oppression,  queer  liberation  and  mental  turmoil  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Lunar  Blood  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  black,  death  metal,  hardcore  and  crust  punk  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Purified  Rot"  "Wrath  march"  and  "Pig  Hunter".  8  out  of  10.

Chaos Perversion/Petrified Against The Emanation/Sentient Ruin Laboratories/Total Death/2022 EP Review

 

  Chaos  Perversion  are  a  band  from  Chile  that  plays  a  ritualistic  form  of  blackened  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2022  ep  "Petrified  Against  The  Emanation"  which  will  be  released  on  January  21st  as  a  joint  effort  between  Sentient Ruin  Laboratories  and  Total  Death.

    A  very  dark yet  ritualistic  sounding  intro  starts  off  the  ep  before  going  into  a  heavier  musical  direction.  Death  metal  growls  are  also  a  very  huge  part  of  the  recording  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies  along  with  the  music  also  adding  in  a  lot  of  90's  influences.

    When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  brutal  sounding  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard  while  black  metal  screams  can  also  be  heard  at  times.  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  music  also  being  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  South  American  black/death  metal  style  and  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  also  give  the  recording  more  of  a  dark  yet  melodic  sound  as  well  as  having  their  chaotic  moments.

  Chaos Perversion  plays  a  style  of  blackened  death  metal  that  is  very  brutal  and  ritualistic  sounding.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  Vampirism,  Death  and  left  Hand  Path  Occultism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Chaos  Perversion  are  a  very  great  sounding  ritualistic  blackened  death  metal b and  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Absorption  Ascension  Under  The  Vampiric  Connection"  and  "Entangled  By  The  Roots  Of  Death".  8  out  of  10.

  Nekrovomit  are  a  band  from  Indonesia  that  plays  an  old  school  mixture  of  black,  thrash  and  speed  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2022  demo  "Demonic  Possession"  which  will  be  released  on  January  31st  by  Helldprod  Records.

  A  very  apocalyptic  sound  starts  off  the  demo  while  evil  voices  can  also b e  heard  in  the  background  along  with  a  brief  use  of  horror  movie  style  keyboards  before  going  into  a  heavier musical  direction.  Elements  of  thrash  and  speed  metal  can  also b e  heard  in  the  guitar  riffing  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  old  school  yet  chaotic  style  while  the  vocals  are mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.  Most  of  the  music  is  heavily  rooted  in  the  80's  and  early  90's  era  along  with  the  riffs  also adding  in  a  small  amount  of  melody  and  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  Tremolo  picking  can  also b e  heard some  of  the  faster  riffing  along  with  some horror  movie  samples also  being  added  on  some  of  the  tracks  as  well  as  one  song  also  bringing  in  some  demonic  sounding  death  metal  growls,  at  times  the  vocals  also  go  into  more  of  a  first  wave  black  metal  direction  and  they  also  bring  in  a  cover  of  Sodom's  "Outbreak  Of  Evil",  clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  briefly  towards  the  end.  The  production  sounds  very  old  school  while  the  lyrics  cover  occultism,  horror  and  death  themes.

Phalanx Inferno/Melek-Tha/Order Of Eternal Indifference/Godz Of War Productions/2021 Split CD Review

 

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  album  between  U.S.A's  Phalanx  Inferno  and  France's  Melek-Tha  called  "The  order  Of  Eternal  Indifference"  which  was  released  by  Godz  Of  War  Productions  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Phalanc  Inferno  a  band  that  plays  a  blackened  form  of  death  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  dark  yet  heavy  sound  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  death  metal  growls.  Most  of  the  music  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  era  along  with  some  shouts  also  being  utilized  at  times  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  old  school  yet  chaotic  style  along  with  the  songs  also  mixing  in  elements  of  black  metal  as  well  as  a  few  screams  also  being  used  at  times.  Throughout  their  side  of  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  the  production  sounds  very  old  school  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  themes.

  Next  up  is  Melek-Tha  a  solo  artist  that  plays  a  mixture  of  ambient  and  industrial.

  His  side  of t he  split  starts  out  with  some  ambient  soundscapes  along  with  some  spoken  word  parts  a  few  seconds  later  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  ritualistic  feeling.  Synths  are  also  utilized  quite  a  bit  throughout  his  side  of  the  recording  while t h e music  also  captures  the  atmosphere  of  a  horror  movie  soundtrack.

  When  programmed  beats  are  utilized  they  also  bring  in  elements  of  industrial  along  with  each  song  also  sounding  very  different  from  each  other  as  well  as  one  song  also  adding  in  some  Gregorian  chants  and  a  couple  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length. The  production  sounds  very  dark  while  the  lyrics  cover  Occultism,  Horror,  Darkness  and  Apocalyptic  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Melek-Tha  is  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  ambient,  industrial  and  ritual  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  tihs  solo  project.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Death  Shall  have  Dominion  :  Codex  Gigas  of  Judgement  Phase"  and  "Diabolus  Rex  Infernalium".

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  i  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  black, death  metal, ambient,  industrial  and  ritual.  8  out  of  10.
