Hellcrawler/Wolfe/The End Of Humanity/The End Of Humanity Records/2014 Split EP Review

This  is  a  review  of  a  split  ep  between  Slovenia's  Hellcrawler  and  Australia's  Wolfe  Called  "The  End  Of  Humanity"  which  was  released  by  a  record  label  with  the  same  name  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Hellcrawler  a  band  that  plays  a  mixture  of  crust,  death'n'roll  and  stoner  rock.

Their  side  of  the  split  starts  off  with  some  screams  before  going  into  a  more  heavy  and  old  school  d  beat  death  metal  direction  along  with  a  mixture  of  growls  and  screams  and  the  band  also  brings  in  a  lot  of  crust  influences  in  the  solos  and  leads  and  after  awhile  melodies  are  added  into  the  music  along  with  some  brutal  blast  beats  as  their  side  of  the  split  progresses  you  can  hear  the  band  bringing  in  elements  of  groove  and  stoner  rock  and  they  close  their  side  of  the  split  with  a  cover  of  Kyuss's  "Green  Machine".

Hellcrawler  creates  a  very  raw  and  heavy  old  school  form  of  death'n'roll  which  also  brings  in  elements  of  d-beat,  crust  and  stoner  rock  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own,  the  production  has  a  very  heavy  and  raw  sound  while  the  lyrics  cover  post  apocalyptic  wastelands.

In  my  opinion  Hellcrawler  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  death'n'roll,  crust  and  stoner  rock  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Overthrown  paradise".

Next  up  is  Wolfe  a  band  that  plays  a  mixture  black  metal,  thrash,  and  grindcore.

Their  side  of  the  split  starts  off  with  some  old  school  thrash  riffing  and  blast  beats  which  gives  the  music  an  80's  black  metal  feeling  and  after  awhile  growls  and  screams  are  added  into  the  music  along  with  some  brutal  grindcore  elements  and  they  bring  in  a  great  amount  of  raw  energy  into  their  musical  sound.

Wolfe  create  some  of  the  rawest  and  heaviest  music  I  have  heard  in  awhile  with  their  mixture  of  black  metal,  brutal  grindcore  and  old  school  thrash  and  also  have  the  best  music  on  this  split,  the  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cove r violent  and  hateful  themes.

In  my  opinion  Wolfe  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  black  metal,  thrash  and  grindcore  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "IX"  and  "X".

In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  black,  death,  thrash  metal,  grindcore  and  crust.  8/5  out  of  10.

A.c.o.D Interview

1/ Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording and release of the new ep?

after the recording we made a japan tour in april 2014 just a couple of days after the release of "ANOTHER PATH" it was a really great experience, playing this EP throught this country was totally crazy!

2/ Recently you have released a new ep. can you tell us a little bit more about the musical direction of the new recording and also how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?

the name "ANOTHER PATH" means that's now we take a new musical direction, all these 5 songs are more powerful than our two past released, the sound is really bigger, we recorded it at the "EAGLE BLACK STUDIO" produced by SHAWTER from DAGOBA, this guy is a real professional, a famous singer and a real good friend, he does an amazing work with us! the mastering was made by DAMIEN RAYNAUD at the "DARTHMADER STUDIO" (the studio of logan mader (machine head) in L.A)

3/ The band calls there music 'blended metal', can you tell us a little bit more aobut this term?

At the very beginning of the band we played a kind of thrash/heavy/black/death metal so we called this music "blended metal" (and for our love for whisky too ahahah) but for now I think we are more in melodic death metal. it is very hard for a musician to put a name on his music so my friend I let you do this work for me

4/ the band has been around since 2006 but so far has only released 2 full lengths and an ep, can you tell us a little bit more about the gap between releases

we started at the end of summer in 2006 but to tell you the truth at the begining we were drinking more beers than playing music, our first album came out in 2009 we are in 2014 and a third album will come out at the end of the year. 3 albums one EP

5/ What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the newer music?

we are talking about actual subjects, like what's happens in the head of every metalheads sometimes. we try to be simple an effective! I think our songs talk to everybody. when I listen to metal I want to heard metal lyrics not fairytales or romance, metal is for men not for schoolboys.

6/ What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name A.C.O.D?

I 'm sorry my friend but it is our secret since 2006 but try to find the name, if you're right I promise you a champagne bottle!!!

7/ What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?

Ouch hard question! I played every gig as the last one, but I must admit that one of my best memory is a gig in ROMA (italy) all the bands were really good and the audience were crazy, we made an amazing party during this couple of days. And of course I have a lot of good memories when we played in our town MARSEILLE!

8/.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?

We are working for the moment on our third album, so I don't like to talk about our projects if nothing is sure. But we have many planed things for 2015! Be sure we won’tsleep.

9/ On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to the newer music by fans of extreme metal?

We played only in japan and France for the moment and we are at the beginning of the promo, but we have good comments and reviews for another path. It seems to be appreciated as a good cold beer

10/ When can we expect another full length album and also where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

The third album will be out at the end of 2014, with the same staff (eagle black studio and darth mader studio) the new songs are finished and you can be sure it will be in the same vein as "another path" with more strenght!!!!!! This third album will open a lot of doors for ACOD.

11/ .What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your newer music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

We are six in the bands so we have a lot of influences, we listen to all kind of metal, old black metal, modern, heavy metal, death metal, hardcore.... there is too much bands we love to quote two or three names, we are real metal fans!

12/ What are some of your non musical interests?

I am a real big movie fan, I see all kind of movie, my house is full with bluray disc and metal album ahahah. I love playing retrogaming videos games too. But drinking alcohol and make party is the number one of our non musical interest (smiling)

13/ Before we wrap up this interview, do you have anyt final words or thoughts?

Many thanks for your questions my friend, I hope you love "another path" and be ready for the release of our next album in a few month. thanks and cheers!!!

Blight  House  are  a  band  from  Rhode  Island  that  plays  a  mixture  of  black  metal,  death  metal,  deathcore  and  grind  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  and  self  titled  2014  ep.

Spoken  word  samples  start  off  the  ep  before  going  into  a  more  blackened  death  metal  direction  along  with  a  mixture  of  growls  and  screams  and  after  awhile  blast  beats  and  melody  are  added  into  the  music  along  with  a  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  the  solos  and  leads  the  band  uses  are  very  distorted  sounding.

Shalrath/The Ebon Fortress/2013 Full Length Review

Shalrath  are  a  band  from  the  United  States  that  plays  a  blackened  form  of   funeral  doom  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2013  album  "The  Ebon  Fortress".

A  very  dark  and  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  guttural  growls  which  are  mostly  in  the  background  and  the  music  goes  for  more  of  a  slow  doom  metal  direction  and  all  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  the  music  also  gets  more  atmospheric  as  time  goes  on  by.

Synths  can  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  and  they  also  bring  elements  of  dark  ambient  into  the  music  and  the  album  sticks  to  a  slow,  dark  and  heavy  sound  from  beginning  to  end  of  the  album  with  no  fast  playing  or  blast  beats  ever  being  utilized  and  the  music  evokes  a  very  evil  sounding  atmosphere.

Shalrath  creates  a  very  interesting  style  of  blackened  funeral  doom  metal  with  their  sound  and  mixing  it  with  guttural  death/grind  vocals  which  enhances  the heavy  and  dark  feeling  of  the  album,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  and  occult  themes.

La Bicicleta Del Diablo Interview

For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?

We are la bicicleta del Diablo (the devil`s bicycle) and we are from Guayaquil, Ecuador, it all started around 2008 at the university, when one  day damian arias (guitar player) came to (pucho flores, vocalist) and ask him if he was interested in making a band, his answer was literally ‘hell yeah’ , damian gave me ‘pucho’one track with some guitar riffs, so ‘’pucho’ began to put some lyrics to that shit and suddenly we had something that we can play. After that we had to many fucking  people in and out the band, until we finally meet Daniel Torres “don dod” (bass player) on 2010 who was also a student from the university(it  was his very first year at the campus around that time) were damian and pucho also attended. As with every possible candidate for the band, we ask him if he want to join in, and he said yes .  Our biggest problem was always the drummer because here in Guayaquil we don´t have too many  options to find the right drummer, but ‘pucho’ knew someone a long time ago from the metal scene  that would fit perfectly to our style and that was mota alvear (drummer). Together the 4 of us began this metal journey of becoming A METAL BAND IN ECUADOR

In December you have released in ep, can you tell us a little bit more about your musical sound?

Yeah that’s right we released our first ep called “Entrañas negras” (black guts), about the sound if we have to put ourselves into one category, it will be metal only metal, we describe this album like some hybrid kind of metal because we were trying to explore different genres of metal such as death metal, deathcore, groove, metalcore, trash, black and even nu metal, with piss off and high pitch screams and gutturals. But we definitely like to play brutal and aggressive

What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?

About the lyrics, at the beginning we came out with the idea of creating horros stories monster inspired  songs like the song V de psicopata ( V PSYCO) that is about a demon vampire that is obsessed with raping and murdered people, but in the other hand we also had topics that links the use of drugs and the deepest dark side of ourselves, like entrañas negras (black guts), which is about how the crack abuse links you with pure hell in your thoughts, also the song monomania which is about how the worlds end and fall into a maze of insanity.

What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'La Bicicleta del Diablo?

After a rehearsal we started to throw different names for the band, until ‘don dod’(bass player) became with the idea of some kind of demon riding a bicycle and in Spanish it sounded so bad ass ,so we became LA BICICLETA DEL DIABLO

What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?

we remember 3  great shows one was the ‘Huankavilca raimy’ in 2012, and also ‘la semana del rock’(ROCK WEEK) in 2011,both in Guayaquil our hometown.
Both shows were insane, people went crazy and was kind of cool because at the time we were so ‘newbies’ at the metal scene. Another show that we played fucking great, was for the 10 years of DESCOMUNAL (local band). we try to give it all in our stage performance and we definitely loose our minds when we are playing live and we always trying to make that connection with each head mother fucker banger

Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?

At this moment we don` t have any plans on touring or even a live performance, we are so focus in writing new material for the next album, in fact if everything went right we will have a new cd for the end of this year or the beginning of the next.

Currently you are unsigned, are you looking for a label or have received any interest?

Yeah like every band that is our biggest dream to get signed so we can live and pay debts thanks to metal music, but we all realize that dream is so damn difficult and even more if we live on a third world country such as Ecuador, but still we hope that with the new album we can reach that fucking desire and make this shit happen, so no, we don`t had receive any deal yet.

How would you describe the metal scene in your home country of Ecuador?

Here in Guayaquil our home city the situation is very poor the people preferred other kind of music like salsa, regeton, and romantics shits, so we can say that here we are fucked, but in quito (Ecuador capital) the situation is very different, the metal scene is very big and even all the monsters of metal that were visit our land like metallica, lamb of god and korn had played is in quito so our plan is as soon we had the new album we are going to move to quito to promote the new album a few months.

On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of extreme metal?

We are not  aware of that situation how the people of other countries react with us, but if we are having this interview that is definitely  a good sign.

When can we expect a full length album and also where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

Like i said before we hope that we can complete the goal of recording this album for the end of this year or the beginning of the next. But we are so excited with this process because the band definitely had evolved into a evil and darker sound we are playing in a lower tune and also we feel that our music is getting more mature so we are hoping to produce the best fucking extreme metal album in Ecuador.

11. What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

UFF to many influences to tell, but naming a few bunch of them, they’ll be meshuggah, lamb of god, Cannibal corpse, metallica, korn, pantera, megadeth, the black dahlia murder, sepultura, obituary, death, whitechapel, slip0knot and more.

12. What are some of your non musical interests?

Damian: stencil painting
Don dod: masturbation and roadie, sound tech, guitar tech stuff
Pucho: soccer
Mota: martial arts

13. Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
Just To wait and prepare to how the new album of LA BICICLETA DEL DIABLO is going to blow your fucking heads off
