Nomad/Transmogrification(Partus)/Witching Hour Productions/2020 CD Review

  Nomad  are  a  band  from  Poland  that  plays  a  blackened  form  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2020  album  "Transmogrification"  which  will  be  released  on  March  27th  by  Witching  Hour  Productions  and  also  consists  of  their  2015  ep  "Tetramorph"  which  I  also  reviewed  a  few  years  ago.

  A  very  dark  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  synths  can  also  be  heard  briefly  before  going  into  a  heavier  musical  direction.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  death  metal  growls and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard. 

  Distorted  sounding  melodies  can  also  be  heard  in  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  black  metal  screams  are  also  added  into  some  parts  of  the  recording.  Some  tracks  also  introduces  clean  playing  onto  the  album  along  with  synths  also  making  a  return  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording.

  Spoken  word  parts  can  also  be heard  briefly  on  a  couple  of  songs  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  as  the  album  progresses  the  music  also starts  getting  more  diverse  sounding.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness  and  occultism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Nomad  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  blackened  death  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "In  The  Hand  Of  Progresion"  "Pantocrator"  and  "Inconsolable  Longing".  8  out  of  10.

Phantasmal/Ansaan Syntyneet - Ansaan Kuolleet/2019 Full Length Review

  Phantasmal  are  a  band  from  Finland  that  plays  a  blackened  form  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2019  album  "Ansaan  Syntyneet  -  Ansaan  Kuolleet".

  A  very  dark  and  heavy sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  death  metal  growls  also  being  introduced  onto  the  recording  a  few  seconds  later.  Blackened  metal  screams  are  also  utilized  at  times  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  A  couple  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  acoustic  guitars  can  also  be  heard  on  a  couple  of  songs.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  along  with  one  track  also  introducing  clean  vocals  onto  the  recording  as  well  as  one  track  also  adding  in  some  shamanic  and  tribal  style  drum  beats.

  All  of  the music  sticks  to  either  a  slow  or  mid  tempo  direction  and  as  the  album  progresses  a  brief  use  of  fast  playing,  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  also  be heard,  one  of  the  tracks  is  also an  instrumental.  The  production  sounds  very professional  for  being  a  self  released  recording  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Finnish  and  cover  darkness  and  horror  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Phantasmal  are  a  very  great  sounding  blackened  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Ansaan  Syntyneet "  and  "Ansaan  Kuolleet".  8  out  of  10.

Perdition Temple/Sacraments Of Descension/Hells Headbangers/2020 CD Review

  Perdition  Temple  are  a  band  from  Florida  that  plays  a  blackened  form  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2020  album  "Sacraments  Of  Descension"  which  will  be  released  on  March 27th by  Hells  Headbangers.

  A  very  fast,  brutal  and  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats.  Vocals  are  a  mixture  of  death  metal  growls  and  black  metal  screams  while  the  music  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  mid  90's  era  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  When  guitar  solos and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  chaotic  style  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  small  amount  of  melody at  times.  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  as  well  as  the  music  always  sticking  to  a  very  heavy  and  brutal musical  direction.

  Perdition  Temple  plays  a  style  of  blackened  death  metal  that  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  era  as  well  as  capturing  a  modern  day  brutality.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  occultism,  evil,  heel,  blasphemy  and  genocide  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Perdition  Temple  are  a  very  great  sounding  blackened  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Desolation  Usurper" "Devils  Countess"  and  "Antichrist".  8  out  of  10.

Spleen Flipper/Myndbreyting/Nailed Nazarene Industries/2019 EP Review

    Spleen  Flipper  are  a  band  from  Italy  that  plays  a  mixture  of  black,  death  metal,  grind  and  hardcore  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2019  ep  "Myndbreyting"  which  was  released  by  Nailed  Nazarene  Industries.

  Distorted  amp  sounds  start  off  the  ep  before  going  into  a  heavier  musical  direction  while  all  of the  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  death  metal  elements  can  also  be  heard  and  the  vocals  are  mostly  blackened  metal  screams.

  A  decent  amount  of  melody  can  also be  heard  in  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  growling  hardcore  style  vocals  are  also  utilized  at  times.  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  as  well a s  the  faster  riffs  also  adding  in a   decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking,  the  music  also  adds  in  the  brutality  of  grindcore  into  some  parts  of  the  music  and  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  briefly  on  the  closing  track.

  Spleen  Flipper  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  black,  death  metal,  grind  and  hardcore  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Spleen  Flipper  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  black,  death  metal,  grind  and  hardcore  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Mirror  Room"and  "Falling".  8  out  of  10.

Raider/Guardian Of The Fire/2020 CD Review

  Raider  are  a  band  from  Ontario,  Canada  that  plays  a  mixture  of  black,  death  and  thrash  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2020  album  "Guardian  Of  The  Fire"  which  will  be  released  on  March  20th.

  A  very  fast  and  brutal  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  while  the  music  also  brings  in  a  great  amount  of  thrash  metal  elements.  Vocals  also  bring  in  a  good  mixture  of  both  black  metal  screams  and  death  metal  growls  as  well  as  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  melody.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  the  solos  and  leads  also  add  in  more  of  an  old  school  style.  Some  of  the  tracks  are  also  long  and  epic  in  length  along  with  the  music  also  mixing  in  some  more  modern  influences  and  all  of  the songs  stick  to  a  heavier  direction. 

  Raider  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  the  modern  and  old  school  forms  of black, death  and  thrash  metal  and  mixes them  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  for  being  a  self  released  recording  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  arts,  mythology,  horror  and  vengeance  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Raider  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  black,  death  and  thrash  metal and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Bound  By  No  Fate"  "Ravenous  Hydra" and  "Destroyer".  8  out  of  10.

Putrid/Antichrist Above/Godz Of War Productions/2020 CD Review

  Putrid  are  a  band  from  Peru  that  plays  a  mixture  of  blackened  thrash  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of their 2020  album  "Antichrist  Above"  which  will  be  released  on  March  13th  by  Godz  Of  War  Productions.

  A  very  heavy  and  brutal  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  the  faster  sections  of  the songs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats.  Vocals  are  mostly  blackened  metal  screams  along  with the  music  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  a  90's  death  metal  style  and  tremolo  picking  can  also  be  heard  in t he  faster  sections  of  the  songs.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  chaotic  yet  old  school  style  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  elements  of  thrash  metal  are  also  utilized  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  as  well  as  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies  at  times.

  As  the  album  progresses  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  parts  can  be  heard  briefly  along  with  one  of  the  tracks  that  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  all  of  the music  also sticks  to  a  very  heavy and  brutal  musical direction.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the lyrics  cover  ancient  myths,  demons,  death,  blasphemy  and  apocalyptic  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Putrid  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  blackened  thrash  and  death  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of those  musical  genres, you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Warfare  In  Golgotha"  "The  Corpse  Of  The  Messiah"  "Pig  Of  Liars"  and  "Morbid  Prayers  Of  Death".  8/5  out  of  10.

Thrashera/Não Gosto!/Hellprod Records/2020 CD Review

  Thrashera  are  a  band  from  Brazil  that  plays  a  very  retro  and  80's  style  of  blackened  thrash  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2020  album  "Não  Gosto!"  which  will  be  released  on  March  31st  by  Hellprod  Records.

  A  very  dark  sounding  intro  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  spoken  word  parts  also  being  used  briefly before  going  into  a  heavier  direction.  All  of  the  music  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  80's  era  while  the  vocals  are  done  in  mostly  a  first  wave  black  metal  style  and  the  music  also  adds  in  some  touches  of  rock'n'roll  and  punk.

  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  solos  and  leads  also  remain  very  true  to  an  old  school  style.  One  track  also adds  in  a  brief  use  of  classical  guitars  along  with  the  music  also  adding  in  a   great  amount  of  thrash  and  speed  metal  elements.  some  of  the  screams  add  in  a  touch  of  second  wave  black  metal.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow, mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  a  couple  of  tracks  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  apocalyptic  samples.  Influences  of  traditional  metal  can  also  being  heard  in  some  parts  of  the  recording  as  well  as  one  track  also  adding  in a  brief  use  of  female  vocals.,  some  songs  also  add  in  a  small  amount  of  back  up  shouts and  they  close  the  album  with  a  cover  of  Titas's  "Igreja".  The  production  sounds  very  old  school  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Portuguese  and  cover  satanism,  sex,  alcohol,  metal,war,  massacres,  nuclear  disasters  and  violence  themes. 

  In  my  opinion  Thrasghera  are  a  very  great  sounding  retro  blackened  thrash  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical genre,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Mare  669"  "Trapped  In  The  80's"  and  "Correntes  Nao  Prendum  Serpentes".  8  out  of  10.
