Gomorran are a band from Finland that plays a blackened form of death metal and this is a review of their 2021 ep 'Experts From The Dark Age" which was released by Inverse Records.
Folk instruments start off the ep before going into a heavier direction while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them. When the music speeds up a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard along with the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic yet chaotic style.
Vocals are a mixture of grim black metal screams and deep death metal growls while the songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. Keyboards can also be heard at times along with most of the music focusing more on a heavier style and the riffs also add in a decent amount of melody, clean vocals and chants can also be heard briefly on the closing tracks.
Gomorran plays a style of blackened death emtal that is very brutal and aggressive yet very different and original at the same time. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover the Roman Empire, Middle Ages and Paganism themes.
In my opinion Gomorran are a very great sounding blackened death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Black Plague" and "Esaiah". 8 out of 10.
