Ghosts Of Glaciers are a band from Denver, Colorado that plays an instrumental mixture of black, doom, progressive metal and atmospheric post rock and this is a review of their 2024 album "Eternal" which was released by Translation Loss Records.
Atmospheric sounding synths start off the album and also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. When clean playing is utilized it is done in more of a post rock style while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them and some of the tracks ae also very long and epic in length.
All of the music also avoids the use of any vocals or lyrics while the album also has its progressive moments. Elements of doom metal are also added into the slower sections of the songs along with the riffs also adding in a decent amount of melody and the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style.
When the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can also be heard along with the tremolo picking in the faster riffing also being very heavily rooted in black metal as well as the songs also adding in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the production also sounds very professional.
In my opinion Ghosts of Glaciers are a very great sounding instrumental mixture of black, doom, progressive metal and atmospheric post rock and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Vast Expanse" and "Ruined Fortress". 8 out of 10.
