Hjort are a solo project from Germany that plays an instrumental mixture of post black and doom metal and this is a review of his album "Evolve IV-VIII" which will be released in 2025 by Iniertal Music.
Field recordings start off the album before going into more of a electronic direction while also introducing atmospheric sounding synths onto the recording. Elements of doom metal are also added into the slower sections of the songs along with most of the tracks also being very long and epic in length.
Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing while the album also avoids the use of any vocals or lyrics. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic post metal style along with the the faster sections of the songs also adding in blast beats and black metal style tremolo picking.
Clean playing is also added into certain sections of the recording along with some of the tracks also adding in a small amount of symphonic touches. At times the music also gets very progressive sounding as well as one song also adding in a brief use of nature sounds. Acoustic guitars and percussion are also utilized briefly and some of the songs also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the production sounds very professional.
In my opinion Hjort are a very great sounding instrumental mixture of post black and doom metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRAC KS INCLUDE "IV" "VIII". 8 out of 10.
