Anthems Of Sickness are a band from the swamp that plays blackened form of hardcore with some post and crust elements and this is a review of their 2014 ep "Through The Eyes of The Glorious Raven" which was released by WormHoleDeath Records.
The ep starts out with a dark and heavy sound which is close to hardcore along with some melody and then the aggressive blackened vocals are added into the music which also use crust style shouts and death metal growls and you can also hear some melody in the music and after awhile solos and leads are added into the music along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them.
When the ep goes into other songs the music gets faster in certain sections in the recording along with some blast beats and after awhile death and post metal influences are brought into the music while being more aggressive than most post bands an d on the last track the music gets a lot more black metal in sound along with some grim screams.
With this ep Anthems Of Sickness play an old school form of hardcore while also bring in a good amount of black metal influence as well as some some death and post metal influences and melody and while this is not something I listen to on a regular basis I still fell the band is good at what they do.
Song lyrics cover everyday themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy and professional sound where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording.
In my opinion Anthems of Sickness are a very decent sounding blackened hardcore band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Midnight Rider" and "The Voice Of God". 7/5 out of 10.
