Ritualhammer are a band from Finland that plays a blackened form of death metal and this is a review of their 2025 album "Grand Pestilential Flame" which was released by Wreworlf Records.
Synths start off the album before going into a very fast and brutal direction which also utilizes a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals are a mixture of death metal growls and black metal screams along with the solos and leads also adding in more of a chaotic yet old school style.
A lot of the music is very heavily rooted in the 90's era while the songs also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them along with one song also adding in a brief use of clear singing, dark sounding melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing as well as the closing track also adding in samples from "Eyes Wide Shut".
Ritualhammer plays a style of blackened death metal that is very fast and brutal in the 90's tradition. the production sounds very old school while the lyrics cover cosmic horror and apocalyptic themes.
In my opinion Ritualhammer are a very great sounding blackened death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Grand Pestilential Flame" "Soils Of The Evervenomous" and "Devoid of Grace And God". 8 out of 10.
