Tehom Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?

F- I lived in the UK between 2001-07, during which I didn´t play with any band, but wrote riffs and a few songs, and when i moved back to Sweden in 2007, we got in touch and decided to form a band.

2.In April you have an album coming out, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording?

J- It is unleashed on the 111th day of the year and will thus accordingly be a discharge of utter Death and ancient Destruction from the cavern of whirlwinds and the deepest currents within the maelstrom brought to you from the Eye of Satan within the night-storms.

F- Pure Death Metal. Perhaps more in the old american style than in our native Swedish, which I personally never was too fond of.

3.This is also your first release since 2011, can you tell us a little bit more about what has been going on during that time frame?

J- Rituals and the exploration of the various dialectics of Psychonautics. In essence, time is a construct and an illusion, so rid yourself from all illusions on your way towards illumination.

F- Due to the “band” never really forming, (incompetent members) recording the album took a very long time. Drums were recorded one year, guitars and the rest another. This is 2014-2015 if I remember correctly. Since then I have written songs for another full-length album that will be recorded this year.

4.Both your lyrics and band name deals with the concept of Tiamat and Tehom, can you tell us a little bit more about your approach to left hand path spirituality?

J- I have practiced my spirituality via diverse means and methods for 22 years now. Sabbatic Witchcraft, Anti-kabbalistic, theistic Devilworship with an especial devotion to Hell’s infernal pantheon with a focus on it´s Goddesses in particular or an eclectic approach to the Black Arte Magical, yes those are some descriptions of categories folks could try label me with, yet not of them would suffice to accurately describe what I do, so I leave it at that.

5.Currently there are only 2 members in the band, are you open to expanding your line up or do you prefer to remain a duo?

F- The plan is to form a “proper” band for possible live shows etc., but it´s rather hard to come by competent members here, and the ones we do know already play in several orchestras already. As much as I do enjoy the full control over songwriting, producing, recording and such, the organic feel of a good band would much benefit this type of music. The future will tell.

6.The album is coming out on 'Blood harvest Records', are you happy with the support that they have given you so far?

We are more than pleased, very satisfied indeed.

7.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black and death metal?

Very positive indeed.

8.What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that the band members are a part of?

Fredrik plays in Bränd Jord while John is not in any other bands.

9.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

J- Ever onwards towards Tehom, into the Void. We are working on our new album now, most music is already done.

F- Style-wise nothing will change. Guitar work might be slightly more improved, practice has become more pleasant with age, it seems.

10.What are some of the things you bring into this musical project that you have not been able to bring into your other bands?

J- We bring you swarming Satanic murky Black Magic Death Metal but know this, Tehom is not a project it´s a band, a calling.

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on the musical style of 'Tehom'?

F- All Metal of death, but some of my all-time favorites and influences have always been (old) Slayer and Morbid Angel.

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Ave Ama Tiamat! Hail Tehom and Thaumiel!
