The Meatfuckers Interview

1.-Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?
Hi everyone, thanks for the interview!

The band is on the final stage to release our second album “Porn Again”. A first single has been digitally released name “The Filth”.  We are now looking for booking concerts to promote the new album.

2.How would you describe your musical sound?
We don’t want to invent any new subcategory nor believe we fit 100% in Black or Thrash so let’s call it simply: Metal.

3.Can you go more into details on the song lyrics you write?
All of our lyrics are about porn/sexual themes, some inspired by movies, some others by real life. We are sorry that we didn’t include the lyrics in our first album, but on this new one we make sure they will be there!

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the bands name?
We looked for a two words name, easy to remember and making sense to our musical and visual concept. The whole name is about people who are in carnal urge, so came up easy to us and describes very well our lyric concept and what you hear with our music.

5. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe your stage performance?
Honestly each concert is the most important one! We can’t be thinking on what we did or we want to do!  We give the best of ourselves on the stage, we look for connection with our audience and want them to be part of our show. We always try to give a show that people deserve, either is one person or hundreds.
Anyhow, But I’d picked two: the first show opening for Cannibal corpse because is when it started all, and now or first show at Zacatacas with Rex Lucifer on the vox and guitar.

6. Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?
We are just now starting to book shows, we just had our first official “Porn again” supporting concert at Zacatecas, Mexico. If you know of any promoter interested in us, let us know!!

7. The new album came out on Music Solutions Agency, how did you get in contact with this label and how would you describe the support they have given you so far?
Just a remark,  Music Solutions Agency is our marketing and promotion agency in Europe, our label is Arsenath Records. The label is from Monterrey, Mexico and is the one that let us work in total freedom and in partnership.  In regards of MSA they liked our FB page and then we asked them what’s is needed for them to help us to promote us in Italy, and since then everyone moved smoothly, we have had several interviews, album reviews, support,  we are so happy with both of them!

8. On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of underground metal?
Oh Man! It’s been fantastic! So far the reviews have been positive to our first album (GANGBANG from HELL), so we believe that people will like “Porn Again” even more!, Porn Again is by far fastest and heavier than Gangbang From Hell, plus we have a now great new singer: Rex Lucifer.

9. What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?
For this new album, as said before, we are going to fastest tempo songs, so I think that going forward, we may start mixing fast and slow music, but now looking to have some melody on either the riff or the vocals, something that keeps sounding in your head even after the song is over.

10. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
The bands that influenced us more are the so called “old school”: Sarcófago, Venom, Sodom, Slayer, Kreator, The Mentors, 80’s metal in general.  New ones like The haunted, Satyricon, Immortal. So far all the band members are so delightful with Ghost B.C, even that we are thinking to do a cover.

11.How would you describe your views on Satanism?
There’s always a debate about what is satanism or not, Some think of it as the total opposite of  Christianity: a red guy living in hell, others like the Church of Satan, that is to accept the fact that we are animals and therefore accept our desires and not judge them. But we are not trying to disqualify any, so we try to use both visions… having a satanic porn, hahahaha.

12.Outside of music what are some of your interests?
 Girls!  …And movies…

13.Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?
Wait for our new album “porn Again” will be released very soon, MSA will have some news in the upcoming weeks. Keep supporting underground Metal!!  The Meatfückers will dominate u all!

Soul Remnants Interview

1. For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?
Sure, Soul Remnants is a band with its roots embedded in the old school. I don't think we sound very old school, I mean, the production we get is clean and modern with enough filth to make it work, but we keep the philosophy of proper old school metal in mind. It's mostly death metal, if I had to put a label on it, but there's a strong dose of thrash and black metal in there.

2.So far you have released one full length and a demo, can you tell us a little bit more about the musical sound that is present on the recordings?

The demo was just a raw live recording. Very few overdubs and just a couple full band takes. The songs on the demo were just unrefined versions of tunes that would be on our debut album. When Plague of the Universe, our first full length, came out in 2009 we were very pleased with the result. The album is heavy, and sludgy at times. People tell me it has a doom metal feel, which I was surprised by, but I guess sometimes you don't realize what you have created until you step back and look at the big picture. It's a fast album, but not as fast as Black and Blood, our new record. Black and Blood is definitely our speed metal masterpiece so far. I just wanted to push the boundaries of what we had created, and through the years we have been able to get there. The dark theme of the band has remained intact which is a pretty strong philosophy of mine. What's good about the music, is it isn't just fast. There are slow, melodic, and epic moments to keep the experience interesting. The music of Soul Remnants is always going to be changing, we can't make the same album twice, but the point of the music will remain. You will always know it's us. Honestly, the third full length is almost done being written, and it's coming out really great and different from Black and Blood, so I can see that this journey is going to continue and keep getting better.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band has covered and explores over the years?

We cover a lot. The lyrics are split up between myself and Mitch, our vocalist. Mitch writes a lot more of the lyrics than I do, I mostly write all the music. I have written about friends dying from drug addictions, people I know being sent to insane asylums, or just fucked up personal relationships filled with rage, pain and hate. Man, real happy stuff. Mitch writes in a more abstract style than I do, and I really like that. You can read his lyrics and wonder, "is this some fucking crazy horror gore rant, or is there a deeper meaning?" I think everyone can get something different from what we write about, but it's some extreme stuff that a lot of people won't be able to digest, haha.

4.Can tell us what inspired you to name the band Soul Remants?

Yea, it was the title to a song I wrote when I was 18. We don't play the song, never have, but the guitar player I was jamming with at the time suggested we start a new band and call it Soul Remnants. I didn't like the name at first, but it stuck-- the usual story, right? As far as meaning goes, it's about self empowerment. I am not and never have been a religious person, but for example, if you were to look at someone with blind faith following a church, giving hard earned cash over to them, I think that person is insane. I'm saying they are spiritually beat down, and what little is left would be the remnants of a soul. That's where they still have some strength and have the potential to wake up.

5. What are some of the best shows that the band has played in its 6 year existence and also how would you describe your stage performance?

Well, we have actually been a band for 10 years now. We have been fortunate enough to play with some bands that really kick ass like Lockup, Deceased, and Rotten Sound which is obviously a blast, but some of the best shows are the underground DIY ones too. BYOB and all, you know? People fucking going nuts all night, definitely the way to do it! We take our live show extremely serious. We don't fuck around when it comes to pulling off every part with tightness.
6. Are there any touring or show plans for the new album?

We are going to be playing one off shows here and there. We all have jobs and need to pay bills, and where we are at, we can't necessarily afford a full on tour. A week here or there is probably the most "touring" we are going to be doing unless of course, this album hits number one on the billboard charts. We are going to try and get out as much as possible for fests and shows that are worth it.

7. On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black and death metal?

I'm probably opening the flood gates in saying this, but we have never got a negative review. We sent Plague of the Universe all over the world when we released it back in 2009, and it's got universally positive reviews. That's all I have to go on. At shows, we get a lot of great responses so we look forward to unleashing the rest of our music on the masses. This band strikes a chord with a very specific type of metal fan, and that's what I'm looking for. I'm not about mass appeal, just making the stuff I would want to hear for other people who "get it."

8.What is going on with the other musical projects these days?

I'm in a heavy metal band with Chad from Soul Remnants, called Armory, and our second full length is coming out soon. It's called Empyrean Realms, and is the result of about six years in the studio. It's almost unbelievable that it's actually gonna come out, it has taken forever. I was in another band called Forced Asphyxiation with our bass player Ryan. Their full length is almost done in the studio. I had to quit that band due to time commitments but they are my brothers still. I helped them a lot with the recording of the album and will probably still track guitar solos on the record. On top of that, I have been helping out a one man atmospheric black metal "experience" called Cryostasium. I'm playing guitar in the project, and I call it an experience because if you met the guy behind it, it is a fucking experience. That's all I can say about that.

9.What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?

Well, I can say since the third album is being written and is almost done, it is going to be a natural progression. There is a black/thrash metal vibe to a lot of it and kind of a crossover feel. It's different enough to be interesting but still sounds like Soul Remnants. All we want to do is make sure we are getting better with every step.

10.What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

My biggest influences are Slayer, Death, Dissection, Mercyful Fate,Immortal, Iron Maiden, Hypocrisy, Pantera, Megadeth, and Metallica off the top of my head. I used to just learn their songs when I was a kid, and that's what really taught me how to play. I am also very into Frank Zappa, the guy was amazing. But, yea, I would just learn the songs I like and jam with different people too. I would jam with rock musicians, jazz musicians and anybody who wanted to. You can learn a lot of really cool tricks that way, and then soon enough develop your own style. Nowadays, I'm still listening to the old stuff mostly. I do really like the new Phil Anselmo solo record, though. I just throw the ipod on random a lot, but aside from the above mentioned, you can never go wrong with Strapping Young Lad, Faith No More, Cannibal Corpse, Carcass or Suffocation. Basically, if it's good and it's real, I'm going to listen.

11.Outside of music what are some of your interests?
I like to paint and draw sometimes or cook. I still hang out with my friends and just rip it up, so if that counts, then there you go. Honestly, music is my main passion in life right now and that's where a lot of my focus lies. If I'm not home with my girl and kid, then I'm probably jamming somewhere.

12.Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?
First, thanks for taking an interest in what we do, we appreciate it. Soul Remnants isn't going to be stopping anytime soon so you should go look us up on facebook @ www.facebook.com/chopwork so you can keep up and enjoy the ride. That's also how you can find out how to get your hands on our cds! Fuckin' right!

"Chopwork  II"  begins  with  some  sound  effects  before  going  into  old  school  death  metal  guitar  riffs  and  drums  which  leads  to  some  guitar  solos  and  growls  which  start  adding  in  blackened  elements  after  awhile  as  well  as  bringing  in  mid  paced  sections  and  melodic  riffing  which  leads  up  to  another  guitar  lead  before  adding  in  a  variety  of  many  different  style  death  metal  riffs.

"Cauldron  Of  Blood"  begins  with  some  drums,  melodic  guitar  riffs  and  black  metal  screams  which  leads  to  the  guitar  riffs  and  vocals  bring in  death  metal  and  mixing  them  with  the  blackened  elements  and  after  awhile  guitar  solos  start  coming  in  and  out  of  the  song  as w ell  as  mixing  in  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

"Incinerator"  begins  with  some  heavy  guitar  riffs  and  powerful  drums  which  also  mix  in  some  blast  beats  before  slowing  down  and  adding  in  growls  before  reverting  back  to  the  faster  parts  and  adding  in  some  blackened  vocals  as  well  as  thrash  influences  in  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  some  powerful  bass  playing  and  towards  the  end  there  is  a  brief  use  of  melodic  death  metal  guitar  solos.

"Symptoms  Of  Death"  begins  with  some  heavy  guitar  riffs  and  drums  which  leads  to  some  growls before  going  into  a  faster  direction  and  adding  in  blast  beats  and  grindcore  influences  along  with  some  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  after  awhile  the  music  slows  down  and  starts  mixing  in  some  dark death  metal  guitar  solos  along  with  the  heavy  rhythms,  growls  and  screams.

"Dead  Black(Heart  Of  Ice)"  begins  with  some  acoustic  guitar  playing  and  melodic  guitar  leads  which  leads  to  some  drums  and  keyboards  as  well  as  heavy  guitar  rhythms  setting  up  the  mood  for  some  black  metal  screams  as  well  as  some  melodic  riffing  while also  keeping  some  of  the  leads around,  as  the  song  moves  on  it  adds  in  some  powerful  bass  playing  and  switching  back  and  forth  between  black  and  death  metal  along  with  some  growls  before  returning  to  its  softer  roots  for  a  few  seconds  before  reverting  back  to  black/death  metal  and  adding  in  some  melodic  solos  along  with  more  blast  beats  as  well  as  switching  back  and  forth  between  slow  and  fast  parts.

"Rape  Casket"  begins  with  some  heavy  death  metal  guitar  riffs  and  drums  which  also  mix  in  some  leads  before  kicking  into  blast  beats  and  blackened  death  metal  vocals  and  after  awhile  you  can  hear  some  powerful  bass  playing  and  melody  as  well  as  the  songs  switching  back  and  forth  between  slow  and  fast  parts  along  with  a  few  seconds  of  keyboards  which  lead  to  some  melodic  guitar  leads  kicking  in  and  out.

"No  Afterlife"  begins  with  some  old  school death  metal  guitar  riffs  and  drums  which  leads  to  a  darker  atmosphere  along  with  screams  and  growls  as  well  as  switching  back  and   forth between  being  low  and  fast  as  well  as  powerful  bass  guitars  which  also  lead  to  a  brief  use  of  guitar  solos while  focusing  more  on  riffing  and  towards  the  end  the  song  starts  mixing  in  thrash  elements  along  with  more  melodic  leads.

"The  Antifaith"  begins  with  heavy  bass,  guitar  riffs  and  drums  which  leads  to  some  blackened  death  metal  vocals  before  switching  back  and  forth  between  slow  and  fast  parts  as  well  as  bringing  some  guitar  solos  in  and  out  of  the  mix.

"Reanimation"  begins  with  heavy  guitar  riffs  and  dark  bass  which  leads  to  some  drums  kicking  in  as  well  as  the  guitar  riffs  getting  more  melodic  which  leads  to  the  music  getting  more  brutal  and  adding  in  death/black  metal  vocals  which  then  leads  to t he  song  switching  back  and  forth  between  slow  and  fast  parts along  with  some  melodic  leads  towards  the  end.

Song  lyrics  cover  darkness,  death  and  gore  themes,  while  the  production  has  a  very  dark,  heavy,  and  professional  sound  where  you  can  hear  all  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording.

In  my  opinion  Soul  Remnants  are  a  very  great  sounding  blackened  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Cauldron  Of  Blood"  "Dead  Black(Heart  Of  Ice)"  "Rape  Casket"  and  "The  Antifaith".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.

Emblazoned Interview

1. Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?
Right now we have a few shows coming up over the mid west that we are getting ready for. We are also working hard on our debut full length album. We have plans to record in November 2013 and hope to have it our in early 2014!

2.How would you describe the musical sound of the new album and how it differs from past recordings?

In the past it was just me and a drum machine so the EP is way different than the past releasese! Sound wise I wanted to show more mid 90's death metal influence and capture some of that sound. When I think of death metal I think of what was happening around 1990 - 1993. The production of music back then to me sounded better - sounded real. I wanted the EP to have that human sound and not an over quantized sound.

3.Between 2001 and 13, there has only been 3 releases, can you tell us on the cause of that that?
Main reason - this was something to do when the other bands I was playing were taking a break from writing. It took me a long time to finish songs because I was writing and recording all the parts. When the first EP came out I did get some show offers but I could not find anyone that would really fit the bands style. It was very frustrating to see some real good opportunities get turned down so after that I kind of put it on shelf for a few years.

4. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the new ep?
Lyrically we are not political or trying to blow minds with poetry. Songs are mainly about questioning religion. We like to come up with ideas that would make a good movie plot, then write lyrics around that.

5. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the bands name?

I wanted to have a name that would be easy to remember and short. The original name for this was Serpent but that was taken a million times over. I wrote a song for the first tape release that didn't get finished and in the lyrics I used "emblazoned a crossed the sky". I was going to have that as the name but was to long so I shortened to just Emblazoned.

6.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far an d how would you describe your stage performance?
So far we have not had a lot of live shows. Personally so far my favorite show was a few months ago we opened for Jungle Rot in Kenosha. Was fun to hang out with some old friends I have not seen in a while. Stage wise no big frills or gimmicks we like to just go up there and throw it down old school style.

7.Do you have any touring or show plans lined up for the future?

Yes we have a bunch of mid west shows coming up over the rest of the year. Once we have the full length album done and released we plan to support that as much as possible. Hope to get at least 1 US and EU tour to support it.

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black and death metal?
So far been very positive - no real negative feed back. We have more feedback in the US than any place else. Other than via the internet we have not been able to reach a real massive amount of media in the EU. The cost to send out promo packs is very high and a lot of the media in the EU like to have physical copies for reviews.

9.What is going on with the other musical projects these days?

All of us also play in other bands. Jeff also fronts a band called Sovereign Descent, Alex and I are also in a band called Grievanze, A.J. plays in a lot of bands most notable is Decrepit Birth.

10.What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?

The new songs we have done for the next album are turning out to be a lot more heavy. We also turned up the speed a bit. I would describe it as a down tuned Panzer Division Marduk meets Dismember Massive Killing Capacity...well those are some large shoes to fill so how about its faster and heavier!

11.What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

All the classic death and black metal bands for sure. To me don't really divide them up its all metal to me but people will understand what you are talking about when using death metal or black metal monikers. Now days not a lot has come across my path that seems interesting. Aeon's new album is great the last Behemoth and Goatwhore albums were great.

12.How would you describe your views on Satanism and Occultism?
Nothing makes better song titles or subject matter other than the Devil. Satan to me is the ultimate rebellion - nothing can be more rebellious in life that choosing Satan. Its a giant middle finger in the face to 99% of the world for those virtues I understand it but for the ideals behind it not so much.

13.Outside of music what are some of your interests?

I put in a lot of hours each week for my day job so I don't have much time to do anything else but work and music - and I'm perfectly OK with that! The only negative is I don't get out to see as many shows as I would like.

14.Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?
