Sathamel are a band from the United Kingdom that has been featured before in this zine and plays a blackened form of death metal and this is a review of their self released and self titled 2015 ep.
A very dark, atmospheric and epic sound starts off the ep bringing in a classical music feeling and after the intro the music starts to get heavy and also bring in a great mixture of death metal growls and black metal screams and you can also hear some melodies in the guitar riffing and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats are utilized.
Most of the guitar riffing is rooted in a 90's influenced style of death metal while black metal is still a very huge part of the bands musical style and when solos and leads are utilized they are in a melodic musical direction and the songs also add in a touch of doom metal in the slower sections of the guitar riffing.
Sathamel remains true to the blackened death metal sound of previous recordings as well a s bringing in a great mixture of both modern and old school influences into their musical style, the production sounds very powerful for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover Satanism and Occultism themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Sathamel and if you are a fan of blackened death metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Wingless" and "Eternal Hunt". 8 out of 10.
