A very slow and heavy doom metal sound starts off the album along with some clear singing a few seconds later. Harsh vocals are mostly black metal screams mixed in with a few growls while dissonant sounding melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing and a lot of the tracks are also very long and epic in length.
All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them while the solos and leads are also done in a very dark yet melodic style. When synths are utilized they also bring in elements of ambient along with some water sounds also being utilized at times. clean playing is also added into certain sections of the album.
The album also has its progressive moments along with a couple of tracks also adding in a small amount of blast beats and most of the album also sticks to a slower musical direction, spoken words can also be heard briefly. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover the danger of eels and biology themes.
In my opinion Escaping Agartha are a very great sounding mixture of ambient, black and doom metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Eel Black Market" "Degrade And Impede" and "Journey To The Sargasso Sea". 8 out of 10.
