Horrid Apparition are a duo with members from France and the Netherlands that plays a mixture of black and thrash metal and this is a review of their 2019 ep "Evil Reigns" which was released on August 30th by Redefining Darkness Records.
A very heavy and old school thrash metal sound starts off the ep along with some aggressive vocals a few seconds later. A great amount of first wave black metal influences can also be heard in the bands musical style as well as the riffs also adding in a decent amount of melody.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very old school style and while the music is heavily rooted in the 80's it still adds in a modern production. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and all of the music sticks to a heavier direction.
Horrid Apparition plays a musical style that takes black and thrash metal and mixes them together to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Occultism, Demons and Evil themes.
In my opinion Horrid Apparition are a very great sounding mixture of black and thrash metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out t his duo. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Baphomet". 8 out of 10.
