Vingulmork are a band from Norway that plays a blackened form of thrash metal and this is a review of their 2015 album "Chiaroscuro" which will be released in November by Chaos Records.
A very hard and heavy thrash metal sound starts off the album along with all of the musical instruments sounding very powerful and after a few seconds high pitched black metal screams start becoming a very huge part of the recording and they also bring in a touch of death metal at times and the fast parts also use a small amount of blast beats.
Melodies can be hard in certain sections of t he recording along with the songs also bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and some songs also bring in a small amount of acoustic guitars and when solos and leads are added into some of the songs they have more of a melodic style to them while the riffing sticks mostly to a heavier power chord orientated style.
Vingulmork plays a musical style that is very heavily rooted in thrash metal and they mix it in with second wave black metal along with a touch of death metal to create a style of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark and angry themes.
In my opinion Vingulmork are a very great sounding blackened thrash metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Collapse And Rebuild" "The Haunting" "Painting Lives" and "It Will Suffice". 8 out of 10.
