Wolf Hex are a band from Rhode Island that plays an old school mixture of black, death and thrash metal and this is a review of their 2024 album "Profane Heresies" which was released by Armageddon Label.
A very dark yet heavy sound starts off the album while you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording. When the music speeds up a great amount of blast b eats and thrash metal elements can be heard while the vocals are mostly black metal screams and the songs also mix in the first wave era of the genre.
A lot of the music also shows an influence of 80's era of death metal while the solos and leads also remain very true to an old school extreme metal style. Some of the riffs also add in a small amount of melody along with some of the songs also adding in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, tremolo picking can also be heard in some of the faster riffing and the whole album also sticks to a heavier direction.
Wolf Hex plays a musical style that goes back to the 80s era of black, death and thrash metal and mixes them together with a more up to date approach to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover occultism, regional myths, folklore, war and death themes.
In my opinion Wolf Hex are a very great sounding mixture of black, death and thrash metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Blade Never Lies" "Piss On Humanity's Grave" and "Crucible Of Mammon". 8 out of 10.
