Xoltergeist/Self Titled/2024 Full Length Review

 

     Xoltergeist  are  a  band  from  Baltimore,  Maryland  that  plays  a  mixture  of  black'n'roll,  punk  and  noise  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  and  self  titled  2024  album.

  A  very  heavy  punk  influenced  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  black  metal  screams.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  and  keyboards  can  also  be  heard  at  times.

  Noises  are  also  added  into  certain  sections  of  the  recording  while  spoken  words  and  clear  can  also  be  heard  on  a  few  songs.  Most  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  along  with  one  song  also  adding  introducing  acoustic  guitars  into  the  music  as  well  as  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody.  

  Xoltergeist  plats  a  musical  style  that  takes  black'n'roll,  punk  and  noise  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own.  The  production  sounds  very  lo-fi  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  and  satanic  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Xoltergeist  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  black'n'roll,  punk  and  noise  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should c heck  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Satanic  Thrills"  "Locks  And  Devils"  and  "Strike  Fear  In  You".  8  out  of  10.
