1. For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?
a. We're an extreme metal group comprised of 2 veterans of the genre and we're looking to take over the world.
2. In July you had released a full length, can you tell us a little bit more about the musical style that you went for on the recording?
a. Well, we have a wide range of influences spanning extreme metal, but also other genres such as jazz, Latin, classical, etc. We just wrote whatever came out. We weren't really going for anything in particular.
3. Some of your lyrics cover satanic and anti religion themes. can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in the dark arts?
a. We've always been interested in the occult and the dark arts. We don't support Christianity or any other organized religions. We believe in individuality above all else. Think for yourself and follow your own way. Fuck Jesus Christ.
4. What are some of the other lyrical topics and subjects the band has explored so far with the music?
a. Horror movies, modern warfare, serial killers, the environment, and Satan!
5. On the album you also had some samples from horror films, which movies did you take the samples from?
a. House of 1000 corpses in the beginning of Exhumus and Fright Night, of course. Erectative features a quote from the Ice man as well.
6. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Ametropia'?
a. Sounds cool. We really didn't put too much thought into it.
7. Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?
a. The artist is a guy called Matej Kollár, and he's a fantastic artist that Tyler scouted. We really wanted something that's unique, but also something more old school. Nothing that typical for extreme music. No AI art. We wanted something raw and made by hand.
8. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?
a. Playing with Dark Funeral at the Reverb in PA was a highlight so far. We received so much positive feedback and people really loved our music. We also went to Canada with Marc Rizzo formerly of soul fly and that was amazing too! We truly are a live band and we are always out there looking to play. b. As for how our stage show is like, we are very high energy and we bring it to every show that our band plays.
9. Do you have any touring or show plans for 2025?
a. Absolutely! We have multiple tours on the works spring-summer.
10. On the new album you also done a 'Death' cover, what was the decision behind doing one of their songs?
a. They're a big influence on us, and we wanted to pay tribute to Chuck and the other amazing musicians that played on that record. Steve DiGiorgio, Andy Laroque, Gene Hoglan.
11. Currently you are unsigned, are you looking for a label or have received any interest?
a. Absolutely we are shopping around
12. On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black and death metal?
a. Very positive! People really dig our stuff and we hope to continue amassing fans worldwide as we continue on.
13. What is going on with 'March To Victory' these days, a band that also shares a couple of the same members?
a. We have no ties to that band. Our members used to be involved; however, they are no longer.
14. Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
a. We are looking to move forward and create an even stronger record. We are going to continue to just write whatever we feel like and we hope people enjoy it.
15. What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
a. Death, Metallica, Deicide, Jonathon Kreisburg, Satyricon, and many more. We are influenced by everything!
b. Tyler - Guitar/Vocals i. I've been listening to a wide variety of stuff. Old Sinister, Electric Callboy, the wicked soundtrack. That movie was killer! I've also been obsessed with The New Sound by Geordie Greep! Check that out.
c. Eric - Bass i. I've been listening to a lot of black metal. Kanonenfieber, hellbutcher, Sarke, Múr, etc. It's a good time to be a black metal fan.
d. Dave - Drums i. I've been listening to a lot of Slayer! Angel of Death is one of the most influential songs for me as a player.
16. Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
a. Thank you very much for this interview and the support. We're looking forward to what 2025 holds for Ametropia
