Night Attack are a band from Charlotte, North Carolina that plays a mixture of black and thrash metal with some elements of punk, grind and hardcore and this is a review of their 2022 ep "The Initiation" which was released by Metal Scrap Records.
A very dark yet heavy sound starts off the ep while the solos and leads also bring in more of an old school 80's extreme metal style. Elements of thrash metal can also b e heard in some of the guitar riffs along with the faster sections of the songs also adding in a great amount of blast beats and grindcore touches.
Vocals are a mixture of black metal screams and death metal growls while the mid tempo sections of the songs also show an influence of hardcore. Throughout the recording you can also hear a good balance between slow, mid paced and fast parts along with some spoken word parts also being used briefly.
Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing and at times the music also captures the raw energy of punk rock along with a couple of the tracks also being very long and epic in length as well as the faster riffing also utilizing tremolo picking at times, the whole ep also sticks to a heavier direction. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Vampirism, Occultism and Afterlife themes.
In my opinion Night Attack are a very great sounding mixture of black, death and thrash metal with some touches of punk, grind and hardcore and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Ripped to Shreds" and "Radiation Death". 8 out of 10.
