Clan Dos Mortos Cicatriz are a band from Brazil that plays a blackened form of punk and this is a review of their 2024 compilation album "Debil" which consists of the ep's released between 2017 and 2022.
A very heavy and aggressive sound starts off the compilation while the vocals bring in more of a shouting hardcore style. All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them along with a great portion of the tracks also being very short in length and the mid tempo sections of the songs also add in elements of crust punk and d beat.
When the music speeds up a great amount of black metal style tremolo picking and blast beats can also be heard. Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing along with some of the songs also adding in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as the solos and leads bringing in more of an old school metal/punk style, some of the tracks also shows influences of post punk, oi, goth and deathrock.
Clan Dos Mortos Cicatriz plays a musical style that takes black metal, crust and hardcore punk and mixes them together to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very old school while the lyrics are written in Portuguese and cover endless personal decay, struggle, loss, misery and failure themes.
In my opinion Clean Dos Mortos Cicatriz and if you are a fan of blackened punk, you should check out this compilation. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Torre Pra Baixo" "Sorrisos" "Desgaste' and "Mofo". 8 out of 10.
