Drazen are a band from Pennsylvania that plays a blackened form of thrash metal and this is a review of their 2024 ep "Gallows" which was released by Syrup Moose Records.
A very heavy yet melodic sound starts off the ep while the riffs also add in a great amount of thrash metal elements. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams along with the faster sections of the songs also adding in a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats with some touches of hardcore punk.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the songs also mix in influences from both the modern and old school era's of the genre. One of the tracks is also a Black Flag cover and the whole ep also sticks to a heavier musical direction.
Drazen plays a musical style that takes black and thrash metal and mixes them together with a touch of hardcore punk to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Drazen are a very great sounding blackened thrash metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Wrathbreeder" and "Blaspheme merchant". 8 out of 10.
