Thurisaz are a band from Belgium that plays an atmospheric mixture of black, doom and death metal and this is a review of their self released 2020 album "Re-Incentive" which will be released in September.
Dark soundscapes start off the album before going into more of a heavier and atmospheric musical direction. All of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with some keyboards also being added into some parts of the songs and the vocals are a mixture of black metal screams and death metal growls.
Spoken word parts can also be heard in certain sections of the recording while elements of doom metal can also be heard in the slower sections of the songs. Melodies are also added into a lot of the guitar riffing along with some clean vocals also being utilized at times along with the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style.
Whispered vocals can also be heard on some of the tracks along with the music also capturing a very melancholic sounding atmosphere as well as a couple of the songs also introducing acoustic guitars onto the album, when the music finally speeds up a small amount of blast beats can also be heard. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover depression, darkness and doom themes.
In my opinion Thurisaz are a very great sounding atmospheric mixture of black, doom and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "In'Balance" "Illuminight" and "Eternity Expires...". 8 out of 10.
