Bulletbelt are a band from New Zealand that plays a blackened form of thrash metal and this is a review of their 2020 album "Warlords" which was released by Impaler Records.
Classical guitars start off the album while also introducing black metal screams onto the recording before going into a heavier musical direction. When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats and all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them.
The music also brings in a great amount of thrash metal elements while melodies can also be heard in the guitar riffing. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow. mid paced and fast parts along with the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic yet old school style.
The songs also add in a good mixture of both old school and modern influences along with the vocals also getting very deep, demonic and aggressive sounding at times. Back up shouts are also added into some parts of the songs as well as classical guitars also returning on a later song.
One of the tracks is also very long and epic in length and also adds in a small amount of pianos and as the album progresses the music gets more diverse as well as adding in a brief use of clean playing but keeping the focus on a heavier style. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover blasphemy, misanthropy, hatred, occultism and historical themes.
In my opinion Bulletbelt are a very great sounding blackened death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Impaler" "Flames Of Hell" and "Warlord". 8out of 10.
