1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?
Thiago: Visione Obscura is a Black Metal Punk duo from Curitiba/Brazil that has been around for a year and a half, performing non-stop and creating various songs since then.
2.So far you have released 2 ep's, musically how do they both differ from each other?
Felipe: The Kvlto (A) Pedra was more based on trying to create some atmosphere of black metal, but with the punk elements. You can pretty much see that the whole ep is more connected. The VxSxOxB is more like a blast of metal punk, bringing up some black metal riffs and rhythm, and loosely connected overall. I like to say that the first one is like a black metal with punk stuff, and the second one is a metal punk with black metal stuff. But in the end, it`s all about black metal punk!
3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band has explored so far with the music?
Felipe: It`s mostly about psychic conflicts, and living in a world of social chaos. In that way, we try to express our inner condition to create some resistance. If I could summarize it, it`s something like accepting the suffering inherent in life, growing stronger from it, and creating a worldview that gives existence meaning.
4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Visione Obscura'?
Felipe: It doesn’t have a precise meaning. But you can consider like the phenomenology of a fucking panic attack, that obscure our vision, and along with that, the torment of the spirits emerges. The darkness of the unconscious is the condition for the expression of creative spirit, I mean, the spirit of the depths.
5. Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new ep cover?
Thiago: The artwork was created by our great Italian friend Giulio Sertori. He was also responsible for the cover of our other EP, the band's logo, some concert flyers, and also videos of our performances on YouTube. The artwork features the "Kvrvpira," a being from Brazilian folklore that protects the forests and animals from deforesters, along with the "Lobo da Estepe” (Steppenwolf) attacking the Brazilian agribusiness politician/deforester. Furthermore, in the background of the illustration there is a reference to the Monolith from the first EP.
6.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?
Felipe: Our first show was a blast! Like a year and a half ago. The crowd was crazy. By the way, our last show in 92 Graus was something like that. But in the first show we were more like shy rsrs, I mean, I was to fuckin concentrated in my guitar to even look at the public. Over time we loosened up. In this last one we were more chill, and was pretty awesome. Sometimes the public don`t understand the transitions of the d-beats to blast beats. It`s like punks don`t know when to stop moshing and start banging some head, or the headbangers don`t know when to stop banging head and mosh pit rsrsrs. But in this last show, seems like the crowd understood our rhythmic game. Oh, and one more thing, I don`t like to talk to the public between the songs, but that`s only because it breaks the dark atmosphere.
Thiago: I'd say the best ones were the last 5 or 6 shows we did from July until the end of 2025. I feel like the songs are getting more and more brutal now, and the audience response is only growing.
7.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?
Thiago: In this first year and a half, we focused on establishing ourselves in our city, but we also had some opportunities to play in other cities. For next year, the idea is to play in places we've already played and in several cities where we didn't have time to play this year, but which have open doors. The main goal would be to do some shows at well-planned events in São Paulo to reach a larger audience.
8.Currently you are unsigned, are you looking for a label or have received any interest?
Thiago: For this new release we made 50 copies on CD-R (with both EPs together). The release was handcrafted in a punk style and had the help of local DIY punk labels (Crocodilo Discos, Filmerd, Toskera Raw and Sangue de Barata). It would be cool in the future to get a label with more structure that could help us reach more people, but for now we continue doing everything ourselves to keep up with our fast pace of creation.
9.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black metal and crust punk?
Thiago: I'd say it's been well received by both types of audiences, but I think punks give more feedback on what they hear. I also notice that those who only listen to punk or only listen to black metal and have closed minds to those styles have difficulty understanding the band. But I think that nowadays punk and metal are more intertwined than ever, and that has allowed us to play with various bands of different styles of heavy music.
10.When can we expect a full length and also where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
Felipe: It`s hard to answer the first one. We don`t plan things very much. The songs are much more intuitive creations than a rational elaboration. And when we close a few, boom, we have an EP. Maybe to release a full length we need to stop releasing EPs rsrsrsrs. Actually, we have three new songs, that was made like in a day that we were drinking beer and playing some music in my house. This next year of 2026, we plan to hit other cities around Brazil to play. And our third EP is going to bring more crust punk elements, mixed with black metal chaos, with lyrics about the imminence of the third world war (and the psychic war!!)
11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
Felipe: I have to say that the first influence is Sarcófago. But we have a lot of others influences, like Venom, Motörhead, Cólera, Ratos de Porão, Darkthrone, Anti-Cimex, Discharge, Puke, Crass, Celtic Frost…the list could go on forever. I`m listing to a lot of punk rock music from Brazil nowadays, and recommend everybody to listen to Sub collection. There`s a band called Psykóze, that has a music called “Terceira Guerra Mundial”, that it is inspiring our new songs. The song called “Fim do Mundo” it`s fucking awesome; they have a loose connection between all the instruments, and yet, so organized. It`s hard to describe, you have to listen to it. I like to listen to punk music and imagine what would it be with black metal rhythm.
Thiago: It's all true what Felipe said, we love all those bands and in some way they all influence us. I also love old school grindcore and crust punk/d-beat bands.
12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
Felipe: Just like to say that we appreciate the opportunity to provide this interview, and long live to the underground scene!
