Oak Coffin are a band from New Jersey that plays a satanic mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of their 2025 album "The Obsidian Ritual" which was released as a joint effort between Iron, Blood and Death Corporation and Futhark Records.
Dark soundscapes start off the album before going into a heavier direction while the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style. All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them while the vocals are a mixture of black metal screams and death metal growls and the riffs also add in a lot of melody.
When the music speeds up a decent amount of blast b eats can be heard while the songs also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. a lot of the music is also very heavily rooted in the old school era as well as remaining very modern at the same time along with one track also being an instrumental and adding in a brief use of acoustic guitars before returning back to a heavier direction, clean playing can also be heard briefly.
Oak Coffin plays a musical style that takes black and death metal and mixes them together to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Satanism, Occultism, Witchcraft and Blasphemy themes.
In my opinion Oak Coffin are a very great sounding satanic mixture of black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band.
