Gravetaker are a band from Finland that plays a mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of their 2025 album "Sheer Lunacy" which was released by Iron Bonehead Productions.
Acoustic guitars start off the album before going into a heavier direction while most of the tracks are also very long and epic in length. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they also add in more of an old school extreme metal style along with the music also before very heavily rooted in the 90's era.
When the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard while the vocals add in more of a mid 80's death metal growling style. Black metal screams are also utilized quite a bit throughout the recording along with the songs also adding in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Dark sounding melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing as well as all of the musical instruments also having a very powerful sound to them, tremolo picking is also added into some of the f aster riffing. The production sounds very old school while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Gravetaker are a very great sounding mixture of black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this duo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Black Sepulchures" and "Aberrations". 8 out of 10.
