Bastard Cross/Crossripper/Morbid And Miserable Records/2025 Full length Review

 

  Bastard  Cross  are  a  band  from  Pennsylvania  that  plays  a  mixture  of  black,  thrash  metal  and  crust  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2025  album  "Crossripper"  which  was  released  by  Morbid  And  Miserable  Records.

  Drums  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  heavier  thrash  metal  direction  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal screams.  Elements  of  crust  are  also  added  into  the  mid  tempo  sections  of  the  songs  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody  and  back  up  shouts  are  also  used  at  times.

  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard  while  album  also  update  and  80's  style  for  the  modern  era.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  yet  old  school  direction  along  with  some  growls  also  being  utilized  at  times,  

Throughout  the  album  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  as  well  as  some  clear  chants  also  being  utilized  briefly.  Growls  and  horror  movie  samples  are  also  added  into  certain  sections  of  the  recording  and  clean  playing  is  also  added  towards  the  end.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism, Occultism,  Blasphemy,  Horror  and  Fantasy  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Bastard  Cross  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  black,  thrash  metal  and  crust  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Parasitic"  "Satanic  Pandemonium"  "Demons  At  Midnight"  and  "Behead  The  Priest".  8  out  of  10.

Night Attack/Necromancer/WormHoleDeath Records/2025 EP Review

 

  Night  Attack  are  a  band  from  North  Carolina  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this zine  and  on  this  recording  plays  a  blackened  mixture  of  death  and  thrash  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2025  ep  "Necromancer"  which  was  released  by  WormHoleDeath  Records.

  A  very  dark  yet  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  ep  while  also  adding  in  elements  of  thrash  metal  and  blast  bears  are  added  into  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs.  Vocals  are  mostly  black  metal  screams  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in a  lot  of  melody  and  they  also  take  an  80's  style  and  update  it  for  the  modern  era.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  the  music  also  has  its  technical  moments.  Elements  of  death  metal  are  also  added  throughout  the  whole  ep    along  with  the  solos  and  leads  also  going  for  a  very  melodic  yet  old  school  style  and  all  of  the  songs  also  stick  to  a  heavier  direction,  growls  can  also  be  heard  briefly.

    On  this  recording  Night  Attack  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  black,  death  and  thrash  metal  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a very  heavy  and  aggressive.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Necromancy,  War  and  Moshing  themes. 

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Night  Attack  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  black,  death  and  thrash  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Necromancer"  and  "Mosh  And  thrash".  8  out  of  10.

The Vice/The Red Tape Sessions/Noble Demon/2025 EP Review

 

  Sweden's  The  Vice  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for a   mixture  of  black'n'roll,  post  punk,  dark  and  gothic  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2025  ep  "The  Red  Tape  Sessions"  which  was  released  by  Noble  Demon.

  Soundscapes  start  off  the  ep  before  going  into  a  heavier  post  punk  direction  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  the.  Solos  and  leads  are  done  in  more  of  a  dark  yet  melodic  style  along  with  the  vocals  being  mostly  black  metal  screams  and  the  synths  add  in  more  of  a  dark  emetal  direction.

  Elements  of  black'n'roll  are  also  added  into  the  mid  tempo  sections  of  the  songs  while  the  music  also  incorporated  a  lot  of  goth  rock  influences.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  a  small  amount  of  blast b eats  also being  utilized  when  the  music  speeds  up,  acoustic  guitars  and  clear  singing  are  also  introduced  on  a  later  track.  

  On  this  recording  The  Vice  continues  to  expand  on t heir  mixture  of  black'n'rool,  dark  and  gothic  metal  by  incorporating  elements  of  post-punk.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  The  Vice  and  if  you  are  a f an  of  black'n'roll,post-punk,  dark  and  gothic  metal,  you  should  check  out t his  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Lilies  of  the  Field".  8  out  of  10.

Moonspell/Opus Diabolicum - The Orchestral Live Show/Napalm Records/2025 Double Live Album Review

 

  Portugal's  Moonspell have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  them  with  an  orchestra  in  a live  setting  to  add  a  symphonic  touch  to t heir  mix  of  black, dark  and  gothic  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  live  2025  double  album  "Opus  Diabolicum  -  The  orchestral  Live  Show"  which  was  released  by  Napalm  Records.

  Live  Audience  reaction  starts  off  the  album  along  with  an  orchestra  playing  in  a  background  bringing  in  more  of  a  classical  and  symphonic  style  which  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs.  When  chants  and  spoken  words  are  utilized  they  also  give  the  music  more  of  a  ritualistic  touch.

  Choirs  are  also  utilized  at  times  while  some  of  the  tracks  also  add  in  a  small  amount  of  clean  playing.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  the  harsh  vocals  also  adding  in  a  touch  of  black  metal  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  along  with  the  clear  vocals  also  adding  in  elements  of  gothic  metal  when  they  are  utilized.  Some  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  as  well  as  one  song  also  introducing  whispered  vocals  onto  the  album,  when  the  music  finally  speeds  up  on  a  few  songs  a  small  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard  and  as  the  album  progresses  female  vocals  are  also  introduced.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Occultism,  Folklore,  Magick  and  Poetic  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Moonspell  and  if  you  are a   fan  of  this  band,  you  should  check  out  this  live  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "1  7  5  5"  "Extinct" "Vampiria"  and  Full  Moon  madness".  8 out  of  10.

Precious Blood/False Prophets/2025 Full Length Review

 

  Precious  Blood  are  a  band  from  new  York  that  plays  a  mixture  of  black,  doom  and  thrash  metal  with  a  musical  style  they  refer  to  as  being  'Blackened  Caribbean  Doom  Metal'  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2025  album  "False  Prophets".

  A  very  dark,  slow  and  heavy  doom  metal  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody.  A  lot  of  the  vocals  are  also  done  in  more  of  a  clear  style  while  the  harsh  side  is  done  in  more  of  a  grim  black  metal  style   and  the  solos  and  leads  are  done  in  more  of  a  classic  metal  direction.

  Some  of  the  riffing  also  adds  in  elements  of  thrash  metal  while  a  lot  of  the  music  is  rooted  in  the  80's  with  a  more  modern  aggression.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them   along  with  some  back  up  shouts  also  being  utilized  at  times,  blast  beats  and  fast  playing  can  also  be  heard  on  a  couple  of  songs.   Tribal  and  ritualistic  sounds  are  also  used  briefly  and  the  closing  track  also  adds  in  a  small  amount  of  female  vocals.

  Precious  Blood  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  black,  doom  and  thrash  metal  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  the  enduring  spirit  of  the  Caribbean,  shaped  by  the  brutal  history  of  colonization  and  the  darker  aspects  of  human  existence.  

  In  my  opinion  Precious  Blood  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  black,  doom  and  thrash  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "False  Prophets"  "Shadow's  Cross"  and  "Whore  Of  The  Grave".  8  out  of  10.

  Olde  Outlier  are  a  band  from  Australia  that  plays  a  very  old  school  mixture  of  black,  doom  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2025  album  "From  Shallow  Lives  to  Shallow  Graves"  which  will  be  released  on  December  19th  by  Iron  Bonehead  Productions.

  A  very  dark  yet  heavy  sound  while  the  vocals  bring  in  a  mixture  of  death  metal  growls  and  black  metal  screams.  Most  of  the  music  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  early  90's  era  along  with  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs  also  adding  in  elements  of  doom  metal  and  the  riffs  also  add  in a   decent  amount  of  melody.

  All  of  the  songs  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  Clean  playing  is  also  added  into  certain  sections  of  the  recording  along  with  some  clear  singing  also  being  used  briefly,  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  yet  old  school  style  as  well  as  some  spoken  words  also  being  introduced  on  a  later  song  and  the  whole  album  also  sticks  to  either  a  slow  or  mid  paced  direction  with  some  atmospheric  touches.
